I had a lot of fun with the girls, and even with the boys. But when the day ended we had to go back to bed. As we were heading to our rooms, Hailey bumped into Adria making Adria drop her cup full of water on the ground.
Hailey, much to no one's surprise, insulted Adria saying: "Clumsy much? Honestly, you think being poor would teach you a thing or two about being careful, but no."
Adria lowered her head in shame, Adrian walked over and put his hand over Adria's shoulder. He wanted to say something, but because he was still suffering with the English language, he couldn't.
Zenny on the other hand had a lot to say: "What do you mean by being poor?"
Hailey looked at Zenny with a smirk, as if judging her, then she replied saying: "You should know a lot about being poor, your country isn't really rich. According to my information, Lebanon is a very poor and unfortunate country."
My heart dropped hearing Hailey's words, and even more seeing Zenny's expression. It was still the first day of school and Hailey insulted the one thing Zenny said not to insult.
"I don't see you as 'rich'. Plus Lebanon might be a 'poor' country, but there are many people who have more money in Lebanon that can't even come close to the amount you have." Zenny commented, trying to stay calm.
"Here is the thing, you wouldn't know what rich is if it came and slapped you in the face. I am beyond rich. I have a private jet, a mansion, and a whole bunch of people working on my command." Hailey jeered.
"Correction, your parents have a private jet, your parents have a mansion, and your parents have a bunch of people working for them. You have nothing, you don't even have a penny with your name on it. Because, reality check Hailey, you don't have a job, so that money isn't yours, it's your parents' money. You are as poor as the rest of us. And just because you come from a very developed country, doesn't mean you can look down on the rest of us, you have no idea what you're talking about half of the time." Zenny stated, starting straight into Hailey's eyes.
From the look of the situation, Zenny has gone beyond any of our expectations. All of the students in the hall were surprised and shocked that someone said those words to Hailey.
"I can sue you if I want to. You have no power over me." Hailey dared.
"You can sue me in America, but sweetie, I am Lebanese, what will you do? Go to Lebanon and drag me out of there? YOU have no power over ME. Money doesn't buy respect, people like me know that more than anyone else." Zenny dared back, then grabbed Adria's hand and took her, past Hailey, to refill her cup.
Hailey stood there in her place looking so angry that her face was turning red. The rest of us still had our jaws dropped at what happened. It felt like a dream, there was no way someone was able to talk back to her after she threatened them, but Zenny did. That girl surely had courage.
