Adira's P.O.V
A week passed and still no sign of Francesca. We were really getting worried, but Hailey and the teachers weren't. It was really strange, it was like they knew more than they were telling us.
Maddie came to class that day looking really upset, and I think I knew why. I went over to Maddie and asked: "How are you?"
She looked at me and it was obvious that she was holding back her tears, "It's Sam's birthday, but she's not here with us. I don't even know if she is safe. I hate Mondays, but this day is too much."
She sat in her seat as she started pulling her book out then she bent her head and rested it on the book placed on the desk. I felt bad for Maddie, but I was also worried about the missing students.
When Zenny arrived at class with Adria, she saw that Maddie was upset so she asked: "Why is Maddie upset?" As she put her hand on Maddie's shoulder.
"It's Samantha's birthday today," I replied.
Zenny smiled and jumped enthusiastically saying: "She's born on the cusp? The Pisces Aries cusp? Really? That's amazing. That's like being born on New Year's Eve." But then she noticed that Maddie was still upset, so she added: "But don't worry, people born on the Aries Pisces Cusp, especially today are brave. They can get through obstacles. I am sure she is okay wherever she is."
"I just miss her." Maddie sighed.
"We know how close you two are but you don't have to worry, this is real life, there are no monsters or magical creatures that took them away. They will come back, and someday this whole thing will just be something we'll look back at and laugh." Zenny replied, and it did seem to cause Maddie a little reassurance.
It was great that Zenny was this optimistic. I was surprised, especially since it is a little hard to see optimism in a time like this, but then again, no one can understand how that girl's mind works.
After class, we sat for lunch on the third floor. Hailey, like always, was being her usual bratty self. "One lunch, I would like to have one lunch without her complaining about something!" Michelle expressed.
"Oh dear Michelle, if you don't like my voice then you have no taste, then again looking at how you dress and how you style your hair, I wouldn't doubt that," Hailey responded from her seat, which was next to Mishelle's table.
"As if you do," Michelle mumbled.
"Oh please, my parents can buy me a plane if I wanted, can yours?" Hailey asked as she smiled her prideful smile.
"Probably. You're not the only rich kid in this school Hailey. Nor are you superior to the ones who come from a middle-class family or a poor family." Michelle replied.
"Of Course I am. Will you compare me to those two peasants?" Hailey sassed as she pointed at Adria and Adrian.
Both Adrian and Zenny got up and yelled: "Hailey!"
Adrian looked at Zenny and gave her a small smile of appreciation before he continued: "You are no better than Adria and I, stop thinking you are."
"It's Adria and me." Heather corrected, which made Hailey laugh.
"See, I am. I wouldn't make that mistake." Hailey smirked.
"When you can speak fluent French then come talk to me. Because you judge the fact that we can't speak proper English, but don't forget we didn't grow up learning it." Adrian retorted.
"Whatever. English isn't that hard, if only your parents invested more, then you would be fluent by now. But being poor just doesn't work." Hailey insulted.
"And being a spoiled bratty rich kid doesn't work either." Adrian dared as he came up to Hailey's table.
"You think you can dare me?" Hailey asked as she tried to hold in her laugh.
"Who are you to make me scared of you? You said it, I am poor, I have nothing to lose. While you have a lot to lose. But unlike you, I have a family that would sell their blood to put their kids in a school, a family that appreciates each other, not a family that only looks at money." Adrian spoke, then he went to his room, stomping his feet as he walked.
Hailey looked really mad, it was better if no one would talk to her at that point, but it was not an easy thing. Maddie came to our table, but when Hailey saw her she yelled: "And you! If you think pouting all day will bring Samantha back then your stupid. She's gone, accept it!"
Hailey went to her room and slammed the door behind her as Maddie broke into tears. I hugged Maddie and told her that Hailey didn't know what she was talking about.
Zenny stood there looking petrified, it was weird, she would be the one to comfort people, but this time she looked too scared.
Lewis saw this and asked her: "Are you okay?"
Zenny's face didn't change as she answered saying: "It's my fault."
Everyone from our class stopped what they were doing and looked at her as she continued: "I am the one who made Hailey mad."
Her voice was so faint as if she was traumatized. Aurianna replied: "No you're not. She had this coming a long time ago. She always treated us like this. You didn't cause this. You somehow made us stand up to her a little more."
Hugo went over to Zenny and gave her a side hug saying: "Blame yourself not for Hailey's anger."
Heather moved her head from side to side, showing that she wasn't too pleased with his sentence but she didn't want to say anything. Zenny seemed to cheer up, as she suddenly jumped and smiled as if she just flipped a personality switch.
Maddie seemed to also flip a little switch, as she tried to cheer up too, but definitely not like Zenny. Aurora offered Maddie her seat as she explained: "Sam isn't gone, neither are the others, they are all probably back home. They wouldn't want us to be upset, they would want us to be happy. Hailey doesn't know what she's talking about, she doesn't know how loyalty feels like, so she wouldn't know how to react to loyalty."
Cloe didn't seem to contradict Aurora's words, instead, she seemed a little suspicious. It was like she knew something we didn't, and I really hope it has nothing to do with the whole disappearance of classmates deal because if she does, she might be an accomplice.
