Gradually things started to get worse. On Maddie's birthday, which was March 23, she went missing. It couldn't have been a coincidence that she disappeared on her own birthday. Then the day after Aurianna and Christian both went missing together.
Like always Hailey didn't seem to mind at all. That made us doubt that she really doesn't know anything. She seemed very suspicious, especially since the only people who haven't gone missing yet, were the people she hangs out with.
What really made us suspect her was what happened on March 30. She argued with Bobby when he overheard her saying bad things about Michelle. The fact that made her mad was that he didn't use to stand up to her before. But what made her suspicious was that after that argument he went missing.
That couldn't have been a coincidence either. Zenny especially seemed very aware of that. When I asked her she replied: "There is no such thing as coincidences, to begin with, everything has a reason to happen. So Bobby disappearing after his argument with Hailey had a reason to happen. Maybe that argument is the world's sign for us."
Zenny made a good point. But Hailey, despite being a mean bully, wouldn't physically hurt anyone. She worries too much about not getting dirt on her, that I don't think she would like getting her hands dirty.
One day, Michelle decided to talk to her about it. Though everyone was against it, Hailey made it really easy by starting a fight herself.
During recess, we were hanging out inside due to the heavy rain as Hailey walked over to us laughing: "Pitty none of you have gone missing, but it's just a matter of time before you decide to go."
"What do you know," Zenny mumbled, as she chewed on her chocolate bar.
"What was that, peasant?" Hailey asked, eyeing Zenny.
Zenny rolled her eyes as she continued to chew her snack. "What do you know, the big strong and mighty Zenny has finally retired." Hailey teased as Heather let out a small laugh.
"Or maybe she doesn't want her appetite to get ruined by you," Hugo replied in his thick German accent, and for the first time, he seemed to have understood that Hailey was trying to provoke Zenny.
"Oh look, the little boy finally learnt how to speak in English. But spell the words correctly, it's want not vant, spell the w." Hailey responded.
"It's a German accent Hailey, what did you expect?" Michelle asked.
"Oh please, he needs to know how to speak proper English," Hailey commented.
"So American English is the only English you'll accept?" Stella asked.
"Is there another?" Hailey replied.
"The one standing behind you?" France pointed out.
Hailey turned around and faced Heather, but she didn't seem bothered: "The English you guys speak will fade away in this school, and you'll end up with the right accent."
"There is no 'right accent' Hailey, stop pretending to be better than everyone else." Michelle sighed.
"Yes, there is," Hailey argued. "Most people speak my type of English."
"American English." Zenny corrected, sounding so done with Hailey.
"Technically, most people have an accent outside the American accent, but what do you know? You only grew up in America and here, you never saw what the rest of the world has to offer." Michelle countered.
"If that's so, then why do you, who is Australian, speak in my English?" Hailey asked.
"American English." Adrian corrected, also sounding as if he is no longer interested in Hailey's logic.
