idea: tommy gets neglected by the sbi as phil always just pays attention to his older brothers, techno was always good at fighting, wilbur had amazing grades and was a fantastic musician, and when he tries to do something to impress phil, it either ends up going wrong and phil scolds him or phil just doesn't notice and tells him he doesn't have time for his nonsense.
when tommy tries to hang out with techno, he's either too busy training or just ignores him. while wilbur was the closest to tommy eventually wil got into music and began neglecting tommy too.
when tommy was 8, he started hiding his emotions from his family, becoming more quiet and less talkative. Phil, techno and wilbur were worried and asked tommy about it and tommy just said he was becoming a big man and was just more mature. the sad thing is, they believed him. the only person he could really be his loud outgoing self with was with his best friend, tubbo.
At age 10,he had enough of his family ignoring him and started cutting, the last straw was when he was planning on hanging out with his best friend tubbo, tubbo and with ranboo and tubbo said "you're not as loud as my other friend tommy, he's a bit annoying sometimes." tommy ran away crying. When he went home, phil lectured him about being worried as hell and why he didn't tell him he was going out, even though tommy had told him about it the day before, lastly phil said "Why can't your be more like techno and wilbur?"
Tommy began crying again, running into his room, then his long time friend, also considered a best friend timedeo came in through the window asking why he was crying. Tommy tried to put up his mask again, saying that he was just tired, of course the one person the mask never worked against was deo. Tommy told deo everything and after that deo was furious, convincing tommy to run away with him where he could take care of the boy, after a while tommy agreed but not before writing a note to phil and the rest of his family.
dear phil, techno and wilbur I'm sorry for not being the son and brother you wanted, I know that i'm loud and annoying and always cause trouble for you guys, now that I am gone I hope you will finally not be bothered by me, please do not try to go find me, goodbye.
about after 15 minutes deo and tommy left, phil came into tommy's room and began apologising about what he said, but he was met with silence, seeing a note on tommy's bed he read it and started crying.
