Of course we are idiot

idea (high school au fluff) (sorry british boys 😔):

Despite only being sophomores, tommy and tubbo were popular, and that was an understatement. Their friend group was considered as the "popular" friend group, but tommy being his dense self didn't notice at all.
In their friend group there were Tommy and Tubbo(sophomores) Wilbur, Quackity, George (juniors) Dream, Sapnap, Technoblade (seniors) The group had formed mostly because of tommy, wilbur and techno, they were brothers so their friends were bound to meet one day.

Techno was always good at fighting stuff, archery, fencing, martial arts, but not particularly sports. That was tommy's area of expertise, maybe that's also one of the reasons tommy's so popular, he was on the school basketball and 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘳  team. While wilbur was a "dirty crime boy" as he had called himself, he tended to skip lessons a lot but always got top of the class so the teachers just let him do whatever.

And tubbo... Well no one could really explain why tubbo was popular, maybe it's  because he was friends with tommy, maybe it's because he's just a down right wholesome guy (i have stream clips that prove otherwise-) He never had outstanding grades, but he was a damn good trampolinist.

Dream, george and sapnap. they formed the dream team, some would argue they were the most dominant trio in the school, others would say it was the sbi. Dream had befriended george when his family moved here the year before freshmen year, and had been friends with sapnap since he was 11. Sapnap transferred to the school in the middle of freshmen year. George was an absolute goofball, so was sapnap, and dream was always so very competitive, constantly challenging techno after he had beat him once.

And lastly quackity, he had met wilbur when he was skipping class and heard someone playing the guitar in the music room. The two had immediately formed a bond due to their love of music. Tho personality wise, tommy and quackity definitely got along the best, but quackity definitely had a dark side to him, no one would ever want to see him angry.

Of course everyone had their own friends like quackity and karl, niki and ranboo, tubbo tommy and ranboo, dream and punz... But those 8 people formed the most popular group of the entire school. And the queen bee was tommy??? Ok the queen bee wasn't very prominent but everyone in the group seemed to be protective of him so uh yea.

At lunch

The eight were at their table, where they'd eat together twice a week, and other times they'd just hang out with their individual friend groups. Like always there were fangirls gossiping, staring at them and tommy being completely oblivious to it all. They were all having their respective conversations, when tommy stopped speaking to tubbo and looked at all of them

"Do you guys think I should join the athletics team?" "Sorry what?" george asked. "Yea my teacher in PE, says i'm the pas test runner in my class and an overall good athlete, and asked if i wanted to join the athletics team." tommy said looking at tubbo for confirmation, tubbo nodded. "You're already busy enough as it is tommy."techno said still arm wrestling dream. "Yea you have basketball on Mondays and Wednesdays, soccer on Fridays, the athletics team trains on Thursdays so you'd only have one day to relax, besides you're barely keeping your grades up." Wilbur said with complete logic.

"What the fuck? I'm getting straight A's tho wilbyyyyy- wait fuck shit uh i meant wilbur wilbur." Techno and dream had stopped their arm wrestle, everyone looked at tommy and bursted out in laughter. "ITS NOT FUNNY WHAT THE FUCK GUYS ITS NOT STOP STOP STOP." And that conversation was forgotten until another time.

2 days later after school

The group was in the library, some doing homework, some studying for tests and some just playing around. They were able to find a corner where no fangirls would find them. Tommy was talking to dream quietly, probably talking about serious shit. Surprisingly tommy talked to dream the most about anything serious, other than wilbur and techno of course. They talked about anything from politics to the deep meaning of life.

Tommy shouted out in the empty library with no one but them "I BET I COULD HAVE 12 GIRLFRIENDS IF I WANTED TO RIGHT NOW!!!!WOMEN LOVE ME!!!" the fuck was that? "shut up tommy" quackity said trying to go back to the nap he so desperately needed. sapnap whispered to george not so quietly " The fucked up thing is he probably could get 12 girlfriends right now if he really wanted to."
tommy heard that and instinctively went "Wait I can?" and looked over to tubbo for confirmation yet again. "why's that tho?" techno stopped studying to say "because you're popular tommy." techno said in a deadpan tone.

"I am?" tommy said still confused. "We all are." dream told him, like a teacher trying to teach kindergarteners how to say hello. "Wait so all of us our popular?" getting tired of this wilbur decided to end it " of course we are idiot." Tommy too dazed to even defend himself, just sat in his chair rethinking his whole life back, and his it'd been a lie.
