(recap)

"Then I suggest you do something about that, dog ", He hissed

Sebastian frowned

"Thank you sir. I think I will"

Kaneki's POV

I open my eyes and hair immediately falls into them. I furiously blink to try and get the hair out of the way and I notice the hair is black. Sebastian's body is hunched over my own and he has his forehead placed against mine. My eye twitches, and I can only assume it helps him have a more stable connection to my own mind.

'Or he just fell over', I thought after remembering he previously only had his hand on my lower arm.

I almost laugh thinking of how clumsy it is that he fell over. I calm myself down and peer through his hair, and my own, at the ceiling. Some of which is tickling my nose and I try my hardest not to scratch it. But just wiggling my nose is not enough so I try not to focus on it and trace the cracks in the walls with my eyes to preoccupy myself.

'I wonder how long Sebastian's gonna take'

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

I slightly tilt my head, carefully under Sebastian's, in the direction of the door. Who could that possibly be? I get a whiff of smoke and sweat; must be Bard. But what is he doing here? Isn't he supposed to be with Ciel?

The door knob twists and my heart begins to race. Then it twists to the left and right a few more times to no avail. I almost forgot that Sebastian had locked the door. I let out a small sigh of relief and close my eyes wishing for him to go away. Sebastian needs to hurry up with whatever he is doing. If Bard actually needed something important we'd be in trouble.

He knocked again.

"Sebastian?"

SILENCE

"Sebastian? Mr. Kaneki? Are ya in there?"

'Damnit Sebastian!', I thought

"Is Mr. Kaneki awake yet? I wanted to speak with em", Bard said through the door

He wanted to speak with me? I rake my brain for answers, but none seem to appear. What would he need to talk to me about?

Bard's POV

Why is it so quiet in there? Sebastian should still be by Kaneki's bedside, and the door is locked? That's a little suspicious to say the least. Wait, could they be-! No, no, no! Of course not. Kaneki's sick and he most likely just wanted everyone to give Mr. Kaneki some space. Knowing Sebastian, he probably wanted some peace and quiet of his own while he figured out what was wrong with him.

But still! Is there any need to keep ignoring me like this? If he isn't doing any better Sebastian could just ask me to leave and come back later. I raise my hand to try knocking again and the door opens.

"Please be a little more patient next time Mr. Bard. I only had a few more things to check with Mr. Kaneki and you were making quite the ruckus", Sebastian said with a close eyed smile

Kaneki's POV

That sly devil barely woke up time enough to get the door. All I had time to say was that Bard had been knocking and he wanted to speak with me.

"O-oh Sebastian, uhm..." Bard muttered out, scratching the back of his head.

"Yes?", Sebastian said, opening up the door a little wider. Just enough that Bard could see me sitting up in bed.

"Could I speak with Mr. Kaneki for a minute?"

Sebastian glanced over his shoulder at me and looked back at Bard.

"I don't see why not."Sebastian replied and stepped out of Bard's way, letting him into the room."Just don push him too hard"

"Thanks Sebastian"

"Don't thank me yet. I do specifically remember giving you and the other's the task of being our master's temporary bodyguards"

Bard chuckled nervously.

"That's part of our job anyway. Finny and Mey-Rin are still with him, he's fine. They would never let anything happen to im."

"No dinner, and you will not get any leftover sweets for two weeks." Sebastian said firmly

"But Sebastia-"

Sebastian shot Bard a stern look.

"Unless that's not enough?", Sebastian said peering down on him menacingly.

Yessir was the last thing out of Bard's mouth before Sebastian left to be at his master's side. He had closed the door behind him and Bard took a seat where Sebastian had previously been.

"What did you need?", I began nervously

Bard was hunched over, sitting with his legs wide open and his elbows resting on either knee.

"I'll get straight to the point", he began, "What's with your eye?"

I was, of course, shocked but not completely thrown off by his question. I knew this day would come, yet it's a little sooner than I had hoped. When had he seen it? I was wanting to let them know at some point so I guess this is the perfect time to tell him.

I steel my nerves and take a deep breathe to calm back down. I also realize that I can currently see out of both eyes.

"For how long have you known?", I began

Bard looked more shocked than I previously had and put his face in his hands.

"So I wasn't crazy?" He asked, peeking through his fingers up at me.

I softly shook my head 'no' with a grin. He sighed and sat back in his chair and pulled out a cigarette, but put it back mumbling something about not smoking inside.

"So, when did you first see it?", I asked him again

"When you were getting mauled by whatever the hell was under your bed.", He explained, "I originally thought it was just my imagination because of the adrenaline rush, but I'm kinda happy it's not." He finished with a sigh

"Happy?", I questioned quite confused.

Why on earth would anyone be happy about this?

"Yeah, I wanted ta see it again when I wasn't doped up on adrenaline. Get a better look at it."

That was a bit of a surprise to say the least.

"Why?"

"Truthfully, I was scared at first. I'd never seen anything like it. But it also looked cool and unique, and because I've never seen anything like it, I wanted ta try and see it again."

"Are you still scared?" I asked inwardly terrified

He chuckled

"I wouldn't be here right now if I was." Bard said with a big grin on his face.

I gave him a soft smile as well and looked down at my lap.

"Thank you"
