Halloween Special

(: I'm so sorry I thought of this last minute, i'll try to kinda keep it short. This is in NO WAY related to the original story :)

Kaneki POV

"Why can't I wear a normal costume?"

I was in my normal butler's attire, but I had wolf ears on my head and one of my kagune out like a tail. For some reason, no one seems to be questioning it. I also wasn't wearing my eye patch.

"I thought it would look nice." Ciel said with smirk

"I didn't even think you celebrated Halloween." I said while looking around at all the decorations in the main hall.

"We're having a Halloween themed masquerade ball today as well. So, I will need everyone to be on their best behavior." Ciel said menacingly as he glanced at all of the servants.

Bard was dressed as a master chef (no surprise there), Finny had a pair of cat ears and a tail, and Mey-Rin was dressed as . . . . where was she?

"Where's Mey-Rin?", I asked no one in particular.

"She has not gotten dressed yet", Sebastian said with a smirk, "I will be on my way to her room after this to help her get ready for the ball."

Sebastian looked towards Ciel, who nodded his head, and then bowed towards the rest of us, excusing himself from the room.

"I hope I can entrust the cleaning duties to you." Ciel said looking towards the servants, though he looks like he's going to regret his decision.

"I think we can manage something as simple as that", I said

"Well you've proven me wrong on many occasions. Mess this up tonight and I'll hang you by your toes from the ceiling, hoping they fall off. Understood?" He said fixing us with a menacing look.

The servants hurriedly said yessir and i just gave a bland, 'alright'. Ciel looked over at me, narrowing his eyes but relaxing a bit before turning around to head towards his office.

"I expect you to keep an eye on them."

He left leaving me confused and dumbfounded.

I was not expecting that.

"We . . . . we're finally . . . . DONE", Bard proclaimed, collapsing onto the floor

"You really had us going Mr Kaneki" Finny laughed as he wiped sweat from his brow with the back of his wrist.

"I don't like being put "in charge" of things. It makes me feel overly responsible for the outcome of what i'm overseeing. So, i made sure the mansion was spotless."

"Well ya damn-sure did a good job!" Bard yelled, "You hardly did anything yourself! How are two people supposed to clean this huge mansion?"

"Two people just cleaned this whole mansion. Technically.", I said looking back at him.

He just sighed and continued to lay on the floor.

"Once the two of you regain your strength make sure you go get yourselves cleaned up. We shouldn't have gotten ready so early."

They both mumbled a yes sir and I went to my room to rest before the party. Only about 5 minutes passed before Sebastian came barging into my room, telling me to come down so i could help serve the guests.

"I just laid down", I said

"I have not rested at all", Sebastian said, "Nobles have begun showing up, we need all of you to show them Phantomhive hospitality."

I sighed and got up, beginning my decent down the stairs. This was my first time helping out with something of this caliber so i was a little nervous, and before i left my room I released my kagune again. I think this is a bad idea, but Sebastian and Ciel seems to think it'll be fine since it's a Halloween "party" of sorts. I'm just not used to people so openly seeing me. Seeing THIS side of me.

I get a tray from the kitchen and begin serving as people give me curious looks like they're trying to figure out what I'm supposed to be. Someone serving catches my eye and i'm completely breathless. Why was a noble serving? She turns around and i realize . . . . . It's Mey-Rin!

She had on a scarlet dress that had black fishnet sleeves that went down her arms and wrapped around the thumb. There was extra lace that hung from the arm as well. The dress was technically "sleeveless". The sleeves hung from the sides of the red dress that snugly fit her upper figure.

Right above her hips is where the dress began to poof out slightly, giving it a little more body. It also had more lace wrapped around her waist and tied into a bow on the side. It fit the description of an evening gown better than it did a ball gown, but either way it was lovely.

Her bangs were out in the front, but some of her hair on the sides were pulled to the back and clipped in place. It seemed like she had contacts in as well since she wasn't wearing her glasses, but wasn't tripping over her feet.

Even though she was a servant, many noble men went up to her shamelessly trying to dance, or ask her if she'd like to work for them instead.

'If only they knew', I thought

I make my way over and help her get away from the swarm of rich men.

"Thank you", She said

"No problem. You looked like you were crying for help."

"Haha, was it that obvious?"

We laughed and not too long after, the floor opened up and more people began to dance. I noticed Sebastian making his way over. His hair was slicked back and he wore a white mask that only covered the top half of his face.

"You may now enjoy your evening however you like", Sebastian said to us, "Put the trays in their respective places on the tables lining the walls. If anyone would still like refreshments they can help themselves as they please."

"Yes sir", We said in unison going to put our trays down.

'Well', I thought, 'I don't have anything better to do'

"Hey, Mey-Rin? Wanna dance?"

"W-what? No no no, heaven's no. I couldn't possibly!"

"It'll be fine. It's better than standing to the side, watching them have all the fun.", I said gesturing to all the rich people.

"Well I-i suppose, but i can't really dance . . ."

"You don't have to dance perfectly, we are servants after all just servants"

I grabbed her wrist and led her to the outskirts of the dance floor.

"I'm not too sure about this Mr. Kaneki. Would we get in trouble?"

"They didn't say we couldn't?"

I grabbed her and we began to dance and i caught a glimpse of Ciel looking at us. He smirked and turned around. Not too long after he and Sebastian were ushering other servants who came with their masters onto the floor to dance as well. Anyone who didn't want to didn't have to of course, but they got as many others as they could.

I smiled and nodded my head towards the two of them.

"Hey Mey-Rin, I think this is a pretty good sign that we can dance"

I smiled at her and continued to dance.

'This night turned out to be rather fun', I thought
