We were still in the deep depths of our perfect moment, one we hadn't had in a long time when we heard a whimpering coming from the closet.

"Okay, the first time I thought I was hallucinating, but you heard, that right?" Hayden stared at me confused but amused. An image of a box inside our closet ran through my mind as my foggy memory had come to clear. Despite what happened between Phoenix and me, he still found me another titan beast for Hayden.

"Oh, I – I got you something." I smiled, slowly sitting myself up in the bed, before realizing I hadn't had much strength to go and get it. "Uhm – I don't think I can – I can't get up. It's in the closet." I felt my heart tremble. What present tops an engagement ring? I could see his breath hitch in his throat as he got up to walk over to the closet. It was hard to hide a present that makes sound. I was surprised that it didn't come out of the closet and come running in here.

I could see his Adam's apple bobbing up and down as he carried the box into the bedroom, with its lid off. A small furry head was peeking from the top of the box and I could see that Hayden was overwhelmed.

"Where did you – I can't believe you did this." He smiled widely, letting the puppy out of the box, and letting it run onto the bed. I had been afraid to touch it, so I hadn't moved it out of the box. It slowly made its way towards me, nudging me with its little pink nose.

"She's a – uhm – she's the same as Mihai." I smiled, not knowing exactly what they were called. I realized I knew very little about the names of the Underworld.

"It's a she?" Hayden smiled, picking up the puppy in his hands and turning her over on her back to check. He smiled, amused by the puppies whining. "What should we name her?" He sat down beside me, allowing the little puppy to sit between us.

"Uhm – I don't know. She's fluffy?" I stared at the little puppy as she began to rub her little pink nose against me. I was still standoffish. I knew what that little, tiny, fluffy, cute thing can turn into.

"I don't think she looks very fluffy in her demon form." Hayden laughed, sitting down beside me, and letting the puppy fold herself into his lap. Lying perfectly still and starting to drift into blissful sleep. He looked happier than I had seen him in a long time. He'd been running around like a chicken with his head cut off.

"Right." I smiled, watching him pet the little puppy.

After a long discussion of names that would potentially match the beast in its true form, we finally landed on one. "Verity." Hayden smiled, knowing this was it. Verity. I agreed. We need some hope in our life even if it is in demon form.

We were sitting in the waiting room of the doctor's office. I couldn't stop my leg from jerking up and down and my fingernails finding their way to my mouth. How did I get here? 2 years ago, I worked in an office with my uncle with no plans to start a family. Now my days consisted of worrying about my pregnancy and my life at the same time. How did I get here? I looked up at Hayden who was patiently waiting with not a drop of worry on his face. I forced my hand into his, trying to calm my nerves at least a tiny bit.

"How are you? Are you feeling okay?" He tightened his grip around my hand. How can I be feeling okay? How is he feeling okay? I was losing my mind.

"I'm trying to." I smiled, pinching my lips together and flinching at the sound of any door opening or closing. "I hoped thinking positive, would make things positive, but my mind is filled with doubt and worry." I felt my whole body tense up. I couldn't stop my mind from racing.

"What are you worried about? I'm sure we just miscalculated. So many things have been happening, with Mihai and Chase and the pregnancy, we must have lost track of time." He kissed my forehead, trying to reassure me as best as he could. I didn't want to tell him that there was nothing that was going to make me better than hearing the truth. I couldn't help but feel like I was right. There was something wrong.
