They met each other on a trip and found an instant connection.
Sparks flew with every touch and they fell together with every glance.
But what happens when its time to wake up from the perfect dream?
As the sky got darker, the weather got chillier. When it was finally time for the "Light and Sound Show" I was shivering like hell. It was supposed to be an outdoor show, where they projected lights on a pyramid to mimic different shapes while a narrator told the story of the Pharaohs of Egypt.
It was hard, finding seats in the crowd so I made sure Grandma and Bibha found their seats first, before going on a hunt for my own seat. Thankfully, I found two empty seats at the very end of a row.
Hurrying, I slid into the seat which was on the inner side, hoping to block away the cold a bit. I was really regretting carrying only a light jacket with me. I had really underestimated the extreme opposites of night and day weather of deserts that I'd heard about.
Right after they announced that the show was about to begin, I felt someone slide into the empty seat beside me. There he was, Mr. Perfect, who somehow managed to find me in a crowd of hundreds.
"Wow you're freezing," he commented.
"E..Excellent Ob..bservation Aidan," I said, my voice shivering just like I was.
"Here wear my jacket..." He said, about to shrug out of his leather jacket when I stopped him.
"D..Don't you d..dare... I don't want y..you getting c..cold..." I said, trying to appear stern.
We had a staring contest before he gave in with a sigh. But then as I looked forward, I felt his arm wrap around me and pull me close to him.
My eyes widened at his actions while he pulled my exposed hands and tucked them into his jacket.
Noticing my bewildered gaze, he smirked and said, "What I can't let you freeze to death now can I?"
I didn't trust myself to speak in that moment so instead I just focused on the show which was beginning. His warmth slowly spread through me and my shivering stopped eventually. Ofcourse, being in the situation that I was in, my face didn't need any help heating up.
Obviously being the perfect guy he was, he smelled great too. I sat stiffly for a few minutes, before I let myself melt into his hold.
Thankfully Grandma was way in the front, meaning she couldn't possibly see me. Being an 18 year old American guy, this was probably nothing for him. But for a 16 year old Indian schoolgirl, if my family were to witness this scene, I'd be in trouble. Yet another thing that set me apart from him.
But as we sat cuddling together under the night sky, in a strange land, I was glad that nobody could see us. Nobody could judge us in this moment or mock us as this moment right here, belonged only to us. It was beautiful.
The lights started projecting on the body of the closest pyramid making us look at it in awe. Slowly the lights took forms of humans and a voice started telling the story of the Pharaohs - Tut Ankh Amon, Thutmosis III, Ramses II and Akhenaten one by one.
We watched the mesmerizing show with rapt attention as the stories of the old were recollected for us. Somewhere during the show, Aidan had wrapped both his arms around me, hugging me entirely, as my hand rested on his chest. It was hard to concentrate on anything else while your crush was practically cuddling with you.
As the show went into an intermission, I felt his gaze on me. Looking up at him I asked, "What are you looking at?"
"Nothing..." he said, with a slight smile.
"mhmm" I murmured, looking down again, shamelessly resting my head on his chest. If we only had few days, I was gonna make the most of it, no matter how much it was gonna hurt when we went our separate ways.
"You're usually this comfortable with all your guy friends?" He asked, out of the blue.
"Nope... just you," I replied.
"No boyfriends?" He asked, making me blush a bit.
"Nah... nobody ever really caught my attention until now..." I answered.
"How about now?" He whispered by my ear, making me shiver.
I dared to look at his face, which was dangerously close to mine. One could really get lost in those hypnotic eyes.
In a daze I managed to reply to him in an embarrasingly raspy voice, "I'll keep you updated."
We were looking at each other intensely and our faces seemed to inch closer slowly. But ofcourse the universe had other plans, the sudden voice of the show's narrator jolted us apart.
And there goes the moment, I thought.
For the rest of the show, my mind kept going back to that almost kiss. I was almost about to have my very first kiss with the most perfect guy ever.
A shadow of doubt loomed over me as I worried if he was regretting the moment. I really didn't want any awkwardness between us if he somehow got embarrassed about what he was about to do. As the show ended, I started getting out of his hold as I felt his arms loosen almost reluctantly.
As we slowly started getting off the gallery, I felt his jacket, cover my shoulders.
I looked at him, about to scold him, when he said, "Its alright, I'm gonna make a run for the bus, I know you need to stop by your grandma and guide her to the bus..."
"Are you sure? I would be okay without it," I tried telling him.
"I'm sure sweetheart," he said, winking at me before he ran to the bus like he said he would.
Be still my heart... I chanted in my head before heading to my Grandma, who was sure to be stumbling in the dark without my help.
