Chapter 2

Ten's POV

Meow.

"Louis, Leon..." I mumble, sitting up in bed, then taking the two cats and pulling them closer to me. The first thing I do every morning when I'm at the dorms; Hug my cats.

After a few minutes of petting them and cuddling when the adorable felines, I reluctantly decide it's about time I get out of bed. Partially because I need to feed the two pigs - I mean, cats - but more because, well, I'm an idol and I have places to be.

As if on cue, my alarm goes off, my backup plan in case Louis and Leon decide not to wake me up one day. It hasn't happened yet, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

I gently push Louis aside so I don't accidentally kick him, then slip my feet into my slippers and walk out of my room into the hallway. Louis and Leon follow me, obviously impatient to eat.

"Morning, Ten," Kun greets me as I enter the kitchen.

"Morning," I respond, taking two cans of cat food and emptying them into a food bowl. They stare up at me, tails waving wildly in the air. I laugh, then throw away the empty cans and wash my hands.

Kun observes the two for a while, then tells me, "There are pastries in the pantry if you want any."

I nod, opening it and seeing the pastries he was talking about. Just then, Chunmei, our manager and Winwin's girlfriend, enters the living room. "Morning, Ten. Morning, Kun."

We both say "Morning" in response as the rest of the members start emerging from their rooms in search of food.

Before long, all of us are seated at the dining room table. This used to be quite a rare occurrence, but ever since Chunmei became our manager, these group meals have become much more frequent. No idea why...

Actually... I might have an idea why. Ever since Chunmei started living with us, she and Kun have been alternating on either chef duty or food ordering duty. It's amazing, how we've somehow become even more of a family, considering that we've always been quite close.

"Practice today after brunch, and then I have a surprise announcement," Chunmei tells us.

~Time Skip~

"So, you have a surprise announcement?" Winwin asks as we're all getting settled back in the dorm after a, well, normal practice.

"I do," Chunmei responds, looking excited.

Yangyang somehow looks just as excited as her, as well as a little impatient. "What is it?" This question results in a "be patient" look from Kun.

"Well... It's been a hectic month or so, as you all know, with your old manager and stylist being fired. The company needs to give me proper manager training or something, so after some convincing, they've agreed to give you all a break for-"

Before Chunmei can even finish her announcement, Lucas starts cheering loudly, immediately joined by Hendery, and then Yangyang. "Thank you!" I exclaim, joining in on the celebration.

Then a barrage of questions and exclamations follows.

"How long is the break?"
"Lucas, you literally cut her off as soon as she was gonna tell us-"
"Does the rest of NCT get a break?"
"Why is that the thing you're concerned about-"
"Is there anything else we need to do over this break?"

It takes a few minutes for us to calm down, because, well, this is great news. Chunmei really is spoiling us. Actually, either she's insanely nice, or maybe our last manager was just a terrible manager who didn't know how to give us breaks.

"Answering all of your questions; The break is two weeks long. The rest of NCT doesn't get a break just yet, since we can't put you all off at the same time, but they'll get theirs soon. And no, this is an actual break and there's nothing else you need to do."

And so our break has begun.

And for anyone who did read Translator and is confused, most of this book takes place in the year between the last chapter of it and the Epilogue, so yeah :)
