I slammed on the brakes of my truck and I jumped out, leaving it running. I knew I was trespassing in their territory, but I feel like Sophia is threatened, and that's all the reason I need to enter here. What was the problem with Charles anyway?

I saw his truck parked in front of a large victorian style house that was very beautiful, but I didn't admire it for long as I ran up to the front door. I froze where I was as I reached for the doorknob.

Where her parents home? How would this look if I just barged in? Ah, forget it...

I quickly threw the door open and I stood in front of a very intimidating man; Kostas, former Alpha of the Bright Night pack, and Sophia's father. He was frowning at me and he snarled. I quickly looked to my left and I saw a woman who looked a lot like Sophia standing there afraid; Ira, Sophia's mother.

Suddenly Charles stomped down the steps and glared at me, and I growled at him.

"Where is she?!"

"What do you want with my daughter?" Kosas asked threateningly.

I swallowed hard. Impress him? Now's not the time...

"She's my mate!" I exclaimed, glaring again at Charles. "And someone refuses to let me be with her."

Ira's face quickly lit up and she smiled, but then frowned at Charles. Looks like I had his mother on my side. Kostas, however, growled and took a step back, toward the stairs. Looks like Charles had his father on his side. Mother trumps father.

"Kostas!" Ira exclaimed, walking around the couch and standing next to me. By her scent, she was human. And she knew about werewolves? "What do you think you're doing?"

"Ira, he wants to take Squirt away!" Kostas exclaimed.

"Kostas..." Ira said sternly. I see where Sophia got her intimidation skills from.

"But-he-" Kostas didn't finish.

Ira only nodded and then glared at her son, who flinched under her gaze. "And what do you have to say about this young man?"

"Mom, he's Michael Hayes, of the Twilight Moon pack," Charles said.

"And?"

Charles looked taken aback. "And? And I'm not having my sister be mates with this prick!"

I growled again, if not only for my pride.

"Then I guess your sister just likes pricks."

Who said that? Was it me? No, it was Salem. He was growing angry and I was losing my control on him. I snapped out of my thoughts to see Charles and Kostas staring at me with large, angry eyes while Ira was surprised.

"I-I'm sorry!" I quickly said. "That was Salem, not me! I swear!"

Charles looked to be on the verge of attacking me, but his father was holding him back.

"Charlie!" Ira shouted.

He stopped fighting against his dad and Kostas just sent me a glare as he brought his son over to his mother.

"Charlie, you know how your sister felt about this," Ira whispered harshly. "Remember what I said you you this morning?"

He nodded.

"Then I need to have a serious talk with you, and you owe your sister and Michael an apology. You're an alpha now, you should know better."

He nodded again, obviously embarrassed and still angry. Ira smiled at me ignoring her son.
