Kailyn's P.O.V

I have a moustache.

There is a moustache and a unibrow drawn into my face with a Sharpie marker.

They always say to never be the first to fall asleep at a sleepover. Of course, I made the mistake of falling asleep first of with 4 other girls around me.

The worst part is, I found out when I was walking to the bathroom at competition.

I was walking to the bathroom and a bunch of people were staring at me, so I stopped this boy-- he was actually really cute-- and asked if there was something on my face and he laughed and told me.

I've always hated people and markers. Especially people with markers.

"Maddie and Kailyn, change into your costumes please!" Abby demands.

I unfold my beautiful blue costume and head behind the curtain with Maddie. Abby always thought blue was the most flattering on stage, I actually agree with her.

"You got the marker off." Maddie points out, smirking.

"Who did it?" I ask harshly, ignoring her previous comment.

"Who do you think?"

"You." I state knowingly, pulling on my top that sparkles.

"The one and only." She smiles innocently.

I roll my eyes and slide open the curtain, making my way out.

After stretching and rehearsing with Nia and Chloe, Abby follows us all backstage with Maddie by her side.

I'll never understand why Maddie is the favorite. Sure she's an amazing dancer, there's no denying that, but that's all she really is, to be honest. I can't ignore the fact that-- dancing wise-- she's literally goals. Her perfectly straight feet and the way she executes her emotions so well are to die for. Also, her leaps are flawless and her turns are clean cut and on point.

Ignoring that, I try to put myself in a frame of mind of the 'character' I should portray in this dance. I have to keep up with Maddie in every way, because if we lose, I'm sure Abby will blame me.

"Kiddo?" Perrie stops me, holding onto my shoulder.

"Yeah?"

"I can see that you're eating yourself up with your thoughts. Calm down. I have no doubt you'll be amazing, you shouldn't either." She smiles encouragingly.

I smile tugs at my lips, and I can't help but grin, "Thank you so much for being here Perrie."

"Of course." I wrap my arms around her waist, giving her a warm hug.

I really do appreciate her being here. She could've been at home relaxing or working on important things with her band mates, but she's here with me.

Without wasting another second, I jog to catch up with the girls. Abby has dispersed into the audience. Chloe and Zack are talking. Well, Chloe is clutching her sides as she dies of laughter, and Zack is staring at her with a proud grin.
