It was already 11 o'clock in the morning, Ushijima was awakened by the faint rays of the sun coming through the window.
The boy put his hands on his face, rubbing his eyes, as if to wake up.
Reluctantly, then, he sat up and grabbed the phone, some notifications had just arrived.
"Wakatoshi-kun are you awake?"
"You will come here today, right?"

The green/brown-haired boy would have to go to the hospital that afternoon to meet his best friend, he hadn't seen him for weeks.
Ushijima and Tendou knew each other from an early age, but unfortunately the second one has always suffered from a genetic disease, cystic fibrosis.
Satori has always tried to live his life normally, as if he wasn't sick, but in the last years, even though he didn't show it too much, his condition had started to deteriorate, so he was hospitalized.

"Yes, I'll come after lunch."

"Yay! See you later Wakatoshi-kun"

Ushijima turned off the phone and started to have breakfast, despite the time.
He didn't go to the hospital in the last days, despite the fact that he was very pleased to meet his friend and spend time with him, but he didn't like to see him in that condition, because Tendou was actually a very energetic person.

The hours passed quickly, and since Ushijima had finished lunch, and the red-haired boy kept texting him asking when he would arrive, he decided to leave his house, quickly going to a comic shop.
He wanted to take a little gift for Tendou, it had been a long time since they had seen each other and Christmas wasn't long past.

Shortly after, he arrived at the hospital, greeted the few people he knew, or rather, they greeted him, and he went to his friend's room.
Ushijima didn't even have time to enter that the red-haired boy jumped on him, hugging him.

"I missed you Wakatoshi!" Tendou almost shouted, without dissolve the hug.

"Oh, uh ... You too." stammered the brown-haired boy, who had remained motionless all the time.

As soon as the red-haired boy dissolved the hug, Ushijima began to observe him.
In front of him there was a tall and rather thin figure, but who wouldn't have looked ill, if it weren't for the small nasal cannula he wore on his face and for the red hair, once always pulled up, which now fell back on his face.

"Are you there?"  Satori said waving his hand in front of Ushijima's face, widening his eyes.

"Mh?"

"What are you looking at? - He said trying to follow the brown-haired boy's gaze, not understanding, he continued.
"Come on." he said grabbing Ushijima by the wrist and inviting him to sit on his bed.

The red-haired boy, after practically dragging Ushijima, emitted a few coughs, and then returned to look at him with a smile on his face.

"Are you okay?" Wakatoshi asked.
Tendou nodded, then looked at the envelope the other boy was holding.
"What is that?" he ask then, raising an eyebrow.

"Oh, right." the other boy answered, opening the envelope.
From this one he took out a shonen manga, that he knew his friend liked them a lot.
Tendou's eyes lit up instantly.
"I didn't know which one to take, I hope you like it-".

Satori hugged him again, was he really that happy?
Ushijima couldn't understand.
Tendou coughed, then spoke.
"Thanks."
"No problem." the brown-haired boy smiled.

The red-haired boy's eyes widened.
"Am I also hallucinating now?"

Ushijima frowned.

"You just smiled, I'll remember about this." he smile starting to browse the manga.

Seeing that Wakatoshi was confused, he let out a small laugh, without taking his eyes off the manga.
At that point the silence fell, the brown-haired boy could hear the faint whistles emitting Tendou's breath, they were a little louder than the last time he had come to see him.
The red-haired boy, seeing that he continued to look at him, closed the manga and turned to him with a serious face.
Tendou with a serious facial expression?

"Do you like to come to visit me, Wakatoshi?"

Ushijima remained motionless, it was obvious that he enjoyed spending time with him, but he was afraid of seeing him get worse, of losing his best friend.
He nod, but the boy came closer, his eyes were shining.

"So why didn't you come here anymore? You don't want to see me like that, right? - He sighed, then he started talking again - Wakatoshi-kun, I don't know how long I have left to l-"

"-Tendou, yes I'm glad to see you. I'll come more often, I promise you."  Ushijima interrupted him, taking his hand.

Satori's facial expression changed immediately, returning to the same as always.

He smiled at Ushijima, then got out of bed and walked over to the window.
"What are you doing?" Wakatoshi asked, seeing that the red-haired boy had gone to the window, resting his head on his hand.

"It's a nice day despite being January, come here."

So Ushijima went to his friend, also leaning against the window.
"I would like to go out." Satori said smiling.

Understanding what Tendou meant, initially the brown-haired boy didn't say anything, then spoke.
"It's too cold today. If it's not so windy one of these days we let's go for a walk around here."

Satori smiled even more, and leaned on Ushijima's shoulder.
"Thank you so much, Wakatoshi."
The brown put his hand on the boy's hair and ruffled them a bit.

Ushijima then proposed to the boy to go back to sit on the bed, since he had started coughing.

They spent the rest of the afternoon watching movies, reading the manga that Ushijima had given to Tendou, and unfortunately, also having to appease the second boy's coughing fits.
So the evening came quickly and Ushijima had to go home.

"I'll be back tomorrow."  Wakatoshi finally said walking out the door, leaving Satori with a smile, happy with what the brown-haired boy had just said.

Once he arrived home Ushijima, exhausted, fell asleep.
After the discussion with Tendou, he realized that the red-haired boy was right: he wanted to spend as much time with him as possible before he could regret it.
