The days passed quickly during that week.
Tendou didn't seem to have gotten worse in that period of time and so that day, on May 20, Ushijima would take Tendou back to that beach.

Satori had woken up first that morning, who too excited to wait, had woken Wakatoshi too.
Ushijima, as soon as he woke up, saw the red-haired boy in front of him, who was smiling.

"Good morning!" Tendou said in a low voice.

Ushijima smiled, then after a few seconds he spoke.

"Happy birthday Satori."

The red-haired boy smiled too and hugged Ushijima with happiness.
It was a beautiful day, faint rays of sunlight illuminated the faces of the boys.
Although there was a weak wind, which made nearby trees to sway slightly, the sky was clear of clouds and the sun was high in the sky.
The day looked promising.

Unfortunately that day didn't go as planned.
About an hour later Ushijima and Tendou were finishing breakfast.
While the two boys were joking, however, the red-haired boy started coughing and breathing heavily, again.
Initially, since that was one of the things that often happened, Wakatoshi just tried to calm Tendou.
But when Ushijima realized that the red-haired boy could no longer breathe, he ran out of the room to call the doctors, who arrived in time so that the boy didn't pass out.

                               .  .  .

Ushijima spent the morning in the waiting room, as he couldn't enter Satori's room because they were restabilizing him.
He also spent the afternoon there, while Tendou was taking antibiotics.
The brown-haired by, worried, was waiting to see his friend again, who surely he, besides being physically ill, wasn't even in a good mood at that moment.
Finally, when evening came, doctors allowed Wakatoshi to enter Tendou's room.

When he entered the room, the red-haired boy was lying on the bed and staring at the ceiling with lost eyes.
"...Tendou?"  Ushijima asked worriedly, the other boy didn't look at him.

"Hey, Tendou." he repeated then shaking his shoulder, once he was next to him.

The red-haired boy then turned to him.
Satori's eyes were dead again, his gaze was very different from the one he had that morning.

After a while Satori sat up.
"Slowly, calm down." Ushijima said, as the boy sat down too quickly.
Tendou still didn't speak.

The brown-haired boy sought Satori's gaze again, who now had lowered his head.
"Tendou, I'm sor-"
"-Wakatoshi..." the boy interrupted him in a low voice.

"Tell me."

After a few seconds, Tendou got out of bed and Ushijima was surprised.
The thin figure of the red-haired boy was now in front of his friend and kept looking down.
Ushijima, confused, remained silent not understanding what Tendou was trying to tell him.

"Please..." he began to say in a faint voice.
"Please Wakatoshi, the day isn't over yet."

Ushijima didn't know what to say, he couldn't believe that the boy continued to insist despite everything that had happened that day.
The brown-haired boy then put a hand on Satori's shoulder, trying to make him think.

"Tendou, listen to me. Maybe it's better to go back there when the infection is healed, for now it's better not."

Satori's reaction left Wakatoshi quite shaken.
Tendou took Ushijima's hand off his shoulder and looked up.
His eyes were wet.

"Wakatoshi the infection won't heal, don't you understand? In less than a month I'll be attached to a fucking oxygen machine because I won't be able to breathe on my own!" Satori said aloud, despite his voice was weak.

The two boys remained motionless, Ushijima didn't know what to say.
Since the brown-haired boy continued to remain silent, Tendou brought his hands closer to Ushijima and with a weak grip he clung to his shirt, continuing to stare at him.

His eyes began to fill with tears.
"Please Wakatoshi-kun, I want to go back there one last time. I want to get out of here one last time, now that I'm still able to do it."

Ushijima's eyes also became wet.
The boy had opened his mouth trying to say a few words, without succeeding.
"Please." Satori kept repeating.

"But they won't let you out of here after what happened today, and besides it's already dark outside, Tendou..." was the only thing he could say.

"I don't care, let's go anyway. Even just for an hour, Wakatoshi I-" he continued, looking down.

"-I get it." finally Ushijima interrupted him, stroking Satori's face.

The two boys had just managed to get out of the hospital.
Satori was smiling, although his breathing became increasingly labored as he walked.
"Are you ok?" Ushijima asked worriedly.

"I'm perfectly fine - said the boy with a short laugh - Come on, let's go." he then added, taking Ushijima's hand.

So the two boys took the road to that beach, that wasn't too far from the hospital.
