Ok so I was watching the first few minutes of some new show with my family. They introduced 3 siblings, and the middle child was the sister who didn't have a lot of money, and she lived in a small apartment with her wife. My sisters and mom were confused because they don't understand that LGBTQ+ relationships can exist. My mom said something like "Of course, they always have to have that" and my sisters said "um..." well I smiled at the TV. I don't mind that a woman has a wife. I walked away, sarcastically muttering "ew 2 wives, that's disgusting."
No no no then I hear my sister (the middle of the 5 of us) say "That's a disgrace to middle children." I'm in a different room but I laughed loudly, with a sarcastic "WOOOOOOOW." I have no words to explain how much that infuriates me. I don't consider myself part of the LGBTQ+ community, but part of the reason why is because I don't really know which community I would be a part of. I consider myself an ally, until I find the right community for me.
I'd love to see my family's reaction if I told them this.
