Finally Alexandra had made it back to the common room and was tip toeing up the stairs to her dorm as quietly as possible, gently pushing the door open, she almost screamed when she saw someone standing, facing the window.
"Merlin, Rain you almost gave me a heart attack, why are you still awake?" she asked
"I was waiting for you" Rain said turning around "I woke up and you weren't back so I wanted to make sure you got back okay, also i got you this" she replied holding a cup with a brown liquid that smelled like some sort of nuts, in it.
"your not trying to poison me are you?" Alex joked
"yes, obviously you know all my deepest, darkest secrets and who knows who you'll tell now, we have fallen out" Rain joked back, its coffee mixed with a hang over potion, it will help dull the head ache and make you feel more sober" she finished
"what would I do without you?" Alex asked, before adding "I need to tell you something and I didn't before because i was scared I would lose you, but if I'm going to loose you for keeping secrets, then I'll tell you but you have to swear you wont tell anyone"
"ok" Rain replied suddenly serious "I wont tell anyone I swear"
"so in the holidays I was out with Cordelia" she began her eyes glistening with tears at the thought of her sister "it was, a full moon, and there was a big grey dog, I told her, I told her we should leave it, but she didn't listen, she went up to it to pet it and" tears where running down her face 'stop crying' she thought to herself "it- it killed her"
"oh Merlin I'm so sorry" Rain said walking over and rapping an arm around Alexandra
"that's not all though" Alexandra said "it was a werewolf, and it bit me" she finished looking up at Rain whose face was mixed with horror and shock,
"so now you're a-" she began
"don't say it" Alexandra interrupted "please"
Rain came over and pulled Alex into a tight hug "its ok" they said "Ill love you no matter what, I always have, always will" they whispered into Alexandra's hair.
"but I'm a monster now" Alexandra said "i turn into a beast every month, I would kill you given the chance"
"You cant control it, I know that, Alex you don't have a bad bone in your body, your the person who opens the window to let wasps and spiders out when everyone else says just to kill it" Rain replied in a soothing tone
"so you don't hate me?" Alexandra asked
"of course not you idiot" Rain replied.
"come on" Rain said grinning, taking Alex's hand whilst walking toward the door.
"where are we going its like six in the morning?" Alex replied
"who cares what time it is, its tradition" Rain said pulling her toward the door,
"what is?" Alex asked before realising and adding "i don't think its a tradition if its only happened once before"
"oh well, are you coming or what?" Rain replied
"have I ever told you, I have the best, best friend ever?" Alex replied, grinned she followed her best friend out the door.
"no, you haven't, but now you have I will remind you every day for the rest of your life" Rain replied
Alex and Rain had only ever argued once before in there time at Hogwarts and after two weeks of arguing, Narcissa got irritated and sent letters to each of them telling them to meet her in the kitchens, when they got there she cast a spell on the door and said they couldn't come out till they made up, naturally being Narcissa she also decided they had to make her a cake, so that's exactly what the two girls where going to do now.
When they arrived at the kitchens they where swarmed by house elves, asking what they needed.
"we don't need anything, we came to bake a cake" Rain told them
"we can make a cake for you if you'd like" one of the elves replied
"no thanks we want to make it" Alexandra replied smiling brightly at the little creature.
So with that they got out all the ingredients and began baking a simple Victoria sponge as that was the only recipe they could find, whilst Rain was mixing the batter, Alex picked up a spare egg and with a huge grin on her face she threw it at the back of her friends head where the shell broke and covered their hair in gooey yolk.
"eugghh" Rain exclaimed running a hand threw their hair "your gonna regret that" they warned picking up the remainder of the flower, as Alex turned around to run, but Rain was faster and dumped it over their head.
"aghh" they squealed as she wiped the flower from her eyes and picked up the butter, to smear it down Rains face,
things escalated pretty quickly and soon, all the house elves and the two slytherins had split into two teams and where having a food fight.
"stop" Alex begged as Rain poured the milk over her head "it smells funny" she complained
"well I think the smell suits you" Rain replied
"well i think you could do with a tan" Alex exclaimed as she threw cocoa powder over her friend.
"at least i smell nice and chocolaty" they replied
Both slytherins collapsed to the floor laughing. "Merlin, I missed you," Alex sighed once the laughing had died down.
"I missed you more" Rain replied taking their friends hand in theirs.
"not possible" Alex replied
Rain sighed "not everything's a competition you know?" they laughed
"yes it is," Alex replied "life is a competition and I will win" she laughed
"ughh you're so cocky" Rain replied "anyways there can only be one winner and that will be me" they finished.
A while later, the kitchens where a mess but the girls had finished their cake, smiling at the end result, Rain asked "where are the brushes ill sweep up the floor"
" oh no" one of the house elves began "that's our job, you girls should take your cake and leave the tidying up to us"
"no, we made the mess, we should clean it up" Rain said "right?" they asked Alex
Being lazier than Rain, Alex reluctantly nodded "yeh" they agreed, although she didn't want to tidy, she didn't think it would be fair to leave the mess for the elves to deal with.
"thank you, but its our job-" another elf added
"no" Rain interrupted opening the shelves looking for a brush to sweep up with "we want to help" she said
"but-" another elf began
"i wont take no for an answer" Rain interrupted again, as they began sweeping having finally found the brush.
So after at least an hour of tidying the two slytherins made there way back to the dorm with their cake.
"oh thank Merling" Narcissa began as they walked into their room "I thought you'd killed each other"
Rain and Alex both laughed "no, we made a cake" Alex replied rolling her eyes.
"I mean I'm not complaining but why?" Narcissa asked
"its tradition, remember?" Rain replied
"oh my Merlin, you remember that?" the blonde girl laughed "well if I get cake every time you to argue, you should argue more often" she finished as all three of them laughed, sitting in a circle on the floor to have their cake for breakfast.
A/N - I wanted Rain and Alex to be friends again as I really like Rain.
