Ash's POV.

"Look at who's here," - Marvin, wrinkled old man boomed, "Princess's back to senses?"

"Shut up, fag."

Talking to the most pesky gross man is the last thing I need at the moment, so I, after coming to old Dino's place, went straight to his closest one – Gregory.

I went upstairs and was halfway touching the doorknob, when my determination started to disappear. So many things are left undone, the whole life ahead, Eiji, Y/N.

No, I am doing that for their safety.

"We've been waiting for you, Ash."

End of Ash's POV.

"Do you think he'll be back soon?" - You wondered, staring at the ceiling.

Eiji stayed silent for a bit longer than you expected him to, "I don't know."

He doesn't know?

"What do you mean? He just went to work, he never works for too long..." - Confused, you thought of the reasons for Eiji to be like that. He seems to be deep in thoughts, which is not usual for him. "I'm going to just call him."

He opened his mouth, it shaped into an "O", but he didn't say anything.

Taking your phone, you found Ash's number and rapidly tapped the 'call' button, when the long beeps continually ringed.

"This is Ash Lynx, leave a message." - said the voicemail.

"Weird." - You whispered.

You felt anxiety's growth; everyone is being suspicious today, and Eiji was there from the early morning for some reason... They were talking with Ash about something not really positive.

Eiji was looking at you with pity and worry, "Y/N, just distract yourself for now, okay? Trust me, he is fine."

"Yeah..." - You looked down, "You're right."

You two were still in blonde's home, so it would've sort of rude to just joke around and do whatever your soul desires, so you called Eiji with your finger to join you in the big couch to just relax and order something to eat.

"Hey, Eiji."

"Mm?"

"Are you going to leave soon? It's late." - Your voice sounds trapped, you worried about Ash more with each second.

"No, I'm staying for now."

You said a little "thanks" as you turned back to the television, however, with no powers left in your body, you stood up and went to the bedroom to sleep and let your mind rest.

Eiji did the same but slept on the couch.

New day. Again.

This time morning was definitely not promising for an amazing day: the sky was covered with grey thick clouds, which did not let the sun go through them and warm up the NY's streets.

You didn't want to start this day, but you still had to treat your body right and at least go eat and take a morning cool shower and, before that, call Ash.

You found your cold phone laying somewhere under your pillow, when it immediately buzzled.

Unknown, today at 10:08.
Don't worry, I'm fine. Tell Eiji it worked. You should go back to your apartment, it's safe. Maybe our paths will cross again.

Yes, it was amazing to hear from him. Yes, you were happy that he's fine.

But the last sentence broke it all.

Maybe our paths will cross again? Maybe???

He said he left for work, does it mean he left just because he wanted to somehow get rid of my annoying ass because he got tired of me?

Door opened violently after your phone fell out of your hands.

"Y/N, what happened?" - Eiji's worried voice asked.

With no words you took the phone and showed him the message. He, surprisingly, just nodded.

"I'll help you drive your things back."

Is he serious?

"Tell me what worked? Did he really just want to get rid of me?" - Your voice almost sounded shattered.

"No! Of course no! Y/N, listen, please." - Eiji placed his palms on your shoulders, "He told you about his, um, past, right?"

You nodded.

"He had to replace Dino when he's dead."

You nodded.

"Dino died."

You nodded.

"Ash didn't come to replace him at time, so they sent one guy to kill you, because Ash cares about you."

You nodded, questionably.

"The only way to protect you is to do what he was meant to."

You already knew where it was going, now it was obvious.

Ash will not come back.
