(No one's POV)"Aw shucks. Did you have to tell them to leave? It's been so long since I've last seen Izuku!" Toga whined, pouting her blood stained lips. y/n only glared, her bird like eyes glinting with murderous intent. "Whatever! You're cute too so it doesn't matter.." Sighed Toga, she got up again, knife in hand and ready to attack.
Toga lunged herself at y/n, surging her knife towards her chest. The sounds of knives clashing filled the air as y/n blocked the attack with her feather-knife. The blond girl smiled, her face mere inches away from y/n's. "I wanna be as pretty as you.." She professed, her face drawing nearer. Before y/n could register what was happening, Toga licked some blood off of her face and jumped away from her.
Toga bursted into hysterical laughter as her body started transforming, making y/n grit her teeth angrily. "Why are you here Toga?! Who else from the league is here?!" y/n snapped, staring at Toga, who now looked like an exact copy of her. "Why do you care? Oh I see! You're scared that Dabi is here as well aren't you!" Toga giggled, even her voice sounded like y/n's now, it was unsettling.
y/n smiled, a deadly glint in her eyes. "Oh I'm not scared of him. I just want to know who's ass I need to beat next." She stated, her voice calm but unsettling. Toga lunged forwards, swinging her knife at y/n. "I heard that you've fought Stain before!" She huffed, jabbing her knives aimlessly at y/n who just dodged. y/n was trying to restrain herself, she knew if she changed her tactic to offence instead of defence that she wouldn't be able to control herself.
"It's a shame that you didn't join the league.. We would've made great friends since we're both like Stain! I mean we're all so similar right? And he's so cool!" Toga laughed, making y/n freeze. Something snapped inside y/n as she listened to Toga rant about Stain in her body. It made y/n feel like it was actually her saying those words, and she didn't like it. Not at all.
She clenched her fists and dropped her feather. "How many times do I have to say this..." y/n's voice trembled with rage as she slowly walked towards Toga, who was backing away nervously. Toga had sensed that she had gone too far, 'I have to get away quick..' she thought after locking eyes with y/n. She backed off a little, but her back collided with the concrete wall. She gulped, raising her knife defensively as a last resort.
y/n drew her fist back and struck Toga's face, making her drop the knife and fall to the ground from the force. "I..." y/n began, her voice low and bone chilling. "Am not..." She continued, landing another strike to Toga's face. "Like him." y/n finished, growing one last punch to the villains face. Toga's eyesight was blurry, the punches were strong and packed with hate. "Not much of a hero now huh...? I see now how you're an assassin..." Toga managed to croak out.
That was a pretty bad move considering her position, but if you had asked her why she did it she'd only say 'I couldn't help it!'. y/n's gloved hand shot out and wrapped around Toga's neck, lifting her up against the wall with one arm. "Don't. Don't call me that." She ordered, glaring into the villain's eyes. The same eyes that belonged to y/n. Toga's quirk began to wear off. She coughed from the lack of air, she was about to lose consciousness. "If... you kill... me you'll.. become exactly.. What you.. keep saying... you're not.."
y/n's eyes softened, along with her grip on Toga's throat. Toga, now back in her original form, was coughing and gasping desperately on the ground. The concrete started to move again, it was Mimic. Toga smiled at y/n. "Until we meet again, pretty Falcon.." She giggled, and before y/n could do anything, the concrete enveloped Toga and she disappeared from her sight.
(y/n's POV)
"Oh god..." I muttered, staring down at the hand that I was just choking Toga with. What did I just do...? I almost damn near killed her... No. There's no way that Hidou was right, I refuse to believe it. I can't be a murderer, I'm a hero. But heroes don't kill... Am I really capable of saving people without killing anyone in the process? If I can't even do that then why the hell am I trying to become a hero?
I kneeled down and picked up Toga's knife, shoving it in my pocket. My eyebrows knotted as I felt a paper in my pocket and I took it out. It was the picture of Eri that I was staring at earlier. That's right, Eri. People like her, people in need of help, that's why I should try to become a hero. Somewhere in this building, there's a little girl being used and abused and I'm here to save her. I mean I did promise to do so no matter what it took right?
Yeah. I'm not becoming a hero for myself, I'm becoming a hero to save others. I need to prove Hidou wrong no matter what.
I ran through maze-like hallways, trying to catch up to the others. I paused when my ears picked up a sound from the hallway around the corner, it was a small boy talking, and he sounded almost hysterical. "I just need to take this... then I'll finally get my quirk and become so much stronger and make the boss notice me! I'll kill all those heroes trying to get in his way... yes, he'll definitely notice me then!" He giggled, holding a vial of what looked like Trigger, the quirk enhancing drug, in it.
My hand bolted to my gun and I stepped forwards. "Put that down. You don't want to do this." I warned, my gun pointed at the hysterical boy. "The Falcon...? Oh Mr. boss is gonna love this! I'll kill you first! He'd love that! He's gonna be so proud of me..." The boy babbled. The hell...
"Put the drug down, I don't want to fight you kid." I ordered again. "Like I'll listen to some dumb hero!" He yelled, the vial hovering above his exposed forearm. "Please let me get my quirk faster..." Reacting quickly, I aimed at the hand he was about to inject the serum in and pulled the trigger. He screamed and dropped the serum, desperately clinging to his injured arm as he writhed in pain. I made sure to just graze his skin, not pierce it. I walked other to him and ripped a piece of his shirt off to bandage his arm.
"L-leave me alone!" He yelped, trying to push me away. Upon closer inspection, he didn't look a day older than 10. My god, how many kids has this man used to get here? "Calm down, you'll bleed out if I don't help you!" I said through gritted teeth, trying to hold him down. He calmed down a little, allowing me to straddle him and wrap the fabric around his arm. "I-It hurts.." He whimpered. "Why are you doing this..?" I asked.
He looked away, refusing to look at me while I bandaged him. "I want to make my dad proud of me..." He muttered after a while. His dad? "Your dad is... Chisaki...?" He shook his head furiously. "N-no.. My dad is one of his most trusted servants! He told me that if I got Mr. boss's approval, he'd be proud of me..." The boy sniffled. I finished wrapping up his arm and sat beside him, he was too tired to protest or push me away.
"What's your name?" I asked. He gulped and glanced at me. "Toji.. Toji Sakaki.." He mumbled, I nodded. "So Toji... Do you actually want to do this?" Toji averted his eyes from mine and started fumbling with the makeshift bandage. "Do you?" I asked again, this time he shook his head. "What do you want to be when you grow up?"
His face lit up a little, but then he scowled. "I want to be the boss's right hand man.." He muttered, but I shook my head and made him look me in the eyes. "No you don't. That's what your father wants you to do. What do you want to be?" I insisted, Toji sniffled and tears pooled in his eyes.
"I... I want to be a hero..."
My mouth curved into a smile. I pulled him into a side hug and whispered in his ear: "I'll get you out of here, then we can both be heroes together okay?" Toji looked up at me, eyes full of hope. But then he scowled again. "What about dad..?" He asked, I shook my head. "Your dad is a bad man, he doesn't want you to be happy. Becoming a hero would make you happy right? So, do you want to come with me and become a hero?" He looked at his bandaged arm before looking back up at me and nodding.
I got up and helped him get up as well. "Look at me, you're gonna have to run now okay? Take this," I said, handing him a small grey feather. "I want you to keep it until I come back for you." He smiled and picked it up from my hand. "You're gonna run and find a police officer, and then you're gonna tell him that Falcon found you and told you to run away and find some place safe." I instructed. Toji nodded furiously, shoving the feather into his pocket.
"Sorry about your arm by the way. Now go! Run!" I ushered. He looked back and called out my name. "Will you really be back?" He asked, making me smile. "Of course Toji, we're gonna be heroes together right?" Toji beamed, nodding excitedly. "Be careful!" He warned. "I will. Now go Toji, save yourself." The kid nodded and began running, right before he was out of sight he turned around and yelled:
"Thank you! You're my hero Falcon!"
I smiled. No Toji, thank you. Thank you for reminding me of why I want to become a hero.
