~Have I fallen too far to rise? It must be fever dreams~
...............
Heather POV
...............

"Nnngh! What hit me?" I groaned and tried to sit up. The painful and steady throbbing in my entire body wasn't helping as I flopped back onto my pillow.

I turned my head and met the eyes of the male pixie. He was leaning against the wall with arms folded and gazing back at me. His stare was warm and comforting.

"You...?"

When he realized I was awake, the male pixie walked over to me and touched my forehead with the back of his hand. The chill from his skin shocked me into a sitting position.

"Waaaaah!" I gasped and stared at him.

"Your fever is high." He simply stated and pressed me back down into the bed. "You need rest."

"Okay." I muttered and snuggled into my bedding and went back to sleep. My head swimming with thoughts and memories, I wasn't even sure were my own.

Over the next little while I fazed in and out of a fever dream. And when I became conscious, I cried out for water.

"Water please! I'm burning up!"

Annjaya was always the first to my side. Always holding me and pressing little amounts of water past my lips so I didn't choke on it.

And in those moments, she gave me worried looks. Her face blending with Hopea's. Even if it was different.

My eyes would flutter closed afterward. Darkness consuming me as she spoke soft and unintelligible words.

...............

I gasped as I rose into a sitting position and looked around.

The world was grey. There was no light or dark. Just shades of grey. There were silhouettes of trees. Leafless, gnarled, dead. Like the grasses surrounding me.

An owl hooted in the distance.

Unseelie!

Immediately the thought came to me.

This is a bad place! Run! Hide! Escape!

I tried to get off the ground, but my legs gave out. I fell back to the ground with an "Oof!"

The steady hooting of the owl kept going like a drone.

"Hoot hoooooooot hoot!"

"Hoot hoooooooot hoot!"

The only sound in this place.

I shivered, but not from the cold as a loud howl, or maybe a beastial growl, rang out in the distance.

And then everything went dark.

...............

As my conscious slowly returned, a strange but pleasing scent filled my senses. It was like some sort of broth, or maybe meaty. Like cooking hamburgers.

It was like a sirens call to my nose as I opened my eyes and sat up.

"Wha...!?"

Where was I? How did I get here? This didn't look like my bedroom.

"Oh?" The strange woman with flaming red hair muttered as she finished putting on her lipstick. It was a garish purply-blue and glittered in the soft sunlight coming in through the window. She smacked her lips and turned to me with a smile. "So my little Heather has finally awoken. That's great!"

She smacked her palms together as her smile turned into a bright grin. Almost like a Cheshire cat.

"Who...?" I couldn't think of who this woman was. And why...? And then it dawned on me. "No way! Annie!?"
