Heather POV

Mommy! My feet moved automatically forward. Annjaya was puffing beside me. Her face full of sweat as she strained to keep me held up.

I would need to do something for her after all this, but I don't know what. My mind going to that rainbow hair clip the dream version of her liked so much. Would I be able to get her one in this reality?

We froze in front of a plain wooden door. It was similar but different than the ones around it.

Mommy... Her voice was calling me from the other side. I had to get inside! I had to get to my little pea!

Without hesitation, I opened it. The final barrier between me and her. And I was met with the most beautiful sight. There she was, sitting on the bed. Kicking her feet back and forth and humming. Her tail wagging behind her.

Hopea looked at me in surprise. Blinked. Rubbed her eyes. Her face lit up with the brightest smile as she came flying into me.

"Mommy!" And then she stopped. Looked me up and down again, as if noticing me for the first time.

"Mommy!?" Hopea said to me with a puzzled tone. She peeked up and sniffed my neck. Tilting her head and sniffing again. Her breath tickled, but I resisted the urge to laugh.

"You smell so good, but why...?"

"To save you." Was all I could answer. My relief at her safety hit like a ton of bricks, making me remember my exhaustion.

She was safe! My baby girl was safe and unharmed.

She hissed in shock as I pulled her closer to my body. Rubbing her long furry ears, petting her hair, and taking in her fresh and soft scent.

I forgot the world around me as we were reunited. Some of my vitality returning as I made another realization. We still needed to get out of here.

"Come on, human crony. Hurry it up! We need to get you to a hospital, like stat!"

Hopea tensed up at the sound of Annjaya's voice. Her eyes narrowed as a little growl erupted from her lips. "So the bad man really was right. You did join hands with one of those evil creatures."

Hopea POV

I pushed Heather away. I couldn't deal with this. I couldn't deal with the fact that Heather and a pixie were together.

As soon as I said those words, she froze and let go of me. Her wound looked deep, but what did I care? There was nothing I could do for her. Especially since half her own wing was missing.

How did she manage to get here in the first place?

A light breeze wafted in the room brushing her hair out of her eyes. A gentle smile played upon her lips.

"Come home." That was all she said.

"I can't. I can't believe you cheated on me. And, and with that thing!"

I shoved past her and ran down the long opulent hallways. Fleeing her. Fleeing the storm of emotions building up inside of me.

I was supposed to be her little one. Me! So why!?

And for some reason, my thought turned to the dragon. He was safer than she was. I wanted to get to him. He would protect me from her.

Just then, I stopped and looked down at my hands. They were coloured red.
