December was always awaited in Hogwarts with excitement and happiness, considering how beautifully the white snow sat both on the castle and on their pathways, sometimes making it hard to walk to their classes. Nevertheless, Chantal, like everyone else, was deep in study sessions and classes. During one December afternoon - it was Potions.
''As I mentioned twice before, I'll need your vials of the Wit-Sharpening Potion on my desk in precisely three minutes. After that, I must ask Slytherins to follow me. The rest of you will be dismissed,'' professor Snape announced.
Chantal viciously finished her potions, which she finally was more sure of than usual, and stuck a name tag on the vial.
Just like Victoria, she walked over to Snape's desk and placed it there. Dina had made it in time too.
''What does Snape want?'' Dina whispered.
''I hope no one's in trouble,'' Victoria replied.
''We haven't done anything,'' Chantal said. ''I'm sure it's just to announce something about the exams.''
''We have the schedule already. It shouldn't that,'' Victoria said.
''Well, whatever it is, keep me updated. I'll head back to the Common Room and then meet you later during dinner, mkay?'' Dina asked.
''Sure,'' Chantal said, saying goodbye to Dina.
The other Slytherin girls were just as suspicious of what Snape's plan was, as they followed him into an empty classroom. But soon the question was answered.
When Snape had moved the chairs and wooden desks out of the way, he walked into the middle of the classroom.
''The others should arrive very soon...'' he said quietly to himself while all the fifth-year Slytherins stood in a bunch. He then continued in a much higher voice. ''Divide and stand on each side of the room. Girls on that side, boys on the other.''
Chantal, while shooting questioning looks to Victoria, walked over to one side of the classroom, where the other five girls were standing as well.
''What did he mean by the others?'' Chantal asked Victoria, but before she could answer, the classroom door opened.
''Good, come inside. We're all waiting for you,'' Snape said.
Chantal immediately recognized that the group entering the classroom were the same green-tie-wearing Slytherins, but unlike herself, they were not yet fifth-years.
''I have been informed that the Yule Ball is approaching and it is my duty to notify you all on the preliminary regulations. As you may have heard, the Yule Ball is a traditional part of the Triwizard Tournament that takes place in December, more specifically on December 25th. You must all know that it is... a dance... and-'' Snape started explaining.
Chantal watched as the fourth-years followed their moves, standing against the classroom walls. Her eyes immediately met someone. Chantal saw Draco look her up and down before whispering something in his friend's ear. He was still staring at her.
