''Like, how am I supposed to finish all this crap? This is mental. Nobody said that they'd try to sleep deprive us this year!'' Chantal complained to Victoria, as they sat in the Great Hall later that evening.
And even though Victoria usually had everything neatly organized, she worried that her Prefect duties would interfere with homework, as there was a significantly bigger amount already given than last year.
However, there was one thing that kept Chantal's mind to a brighter side - Cedric. She watched as he laughed, talking to his friends at the Hufflepuff table. Chantal had been admiring his gorgeous face for too long, as Cedric's eyes turned to her one moment.
''Shit,'' Chantal quietly muttered, pretending to be eating. She stuffed a piece of toast in her mouth that immediately somehow fell out. Victoria gave a rather pig-like snort as an honest reaction.
''What was that?'' she laughed.
''I'm eating,'' Chantal replied in a shaky voice.
''Okay...'' her friend said and drank her cup of tea.
Chantal's eyes only moved to Cedric once a good minute had passed by. However, she found Cedric's gaze steadily observing her. She couldn't help but give a smile at him.
''Is it--'' Victoria almost asked but Chantal coughed, as an interruption to the question Victoria was about to ask. Later, she found out that Victoria had wanted to ask if she was looking at Cedric. Thankfully, Chantal had sensed that.
''Is he looking now?'' Victoria wrote on a piece of parchment she found in her pockets.
Chantal shook her head in denial.
''He's leaving,'' Chantal announced quietly as she saw Cedric stand up and head towards the oak doors. ''or not...''
She watched as Cedric smiled, taking a turn towards the Slytherin table.
''What?'' Victoria asked.
''I think he's coming over,''
''Now?''
''Yes,''
''Oh my--''
''No, Vic, it's just that if you and Gerald do your homework together while patrolling, you can seriously benefit from that!'' Chantal said in a rushed tone.
''Of course, but don't you think it'd be better for us to do our homework together?''
