There was not a cell in her body that could deny how excited Chantal was about going to the party, but she did not quite get why Cedric had gone out of his way to ask her specifically. She wasn't dumb, of course, she understood that he had some sort of interest. Chantal wondered if it was genuine.
All six fifth-year Slytherin girls had been invited to the party by some sort of association. Nobody thankfully asked Chantal how she had got to know about the party, but lying about the fact that Cedric had asked her wouldn't be too hard for her.
''Are you going to wear a dress or a skirt? I wanna go with pants, but if I wear something too boring no one will talk to me,'' Audrey said, huffing.
''You mean – no boys?'' Lyra asked, teasing her friend.
''Perhaps. Well, I haven't talked to any boys pretty much all summer...''
''And that means you have to lower yourself for someone who'll like you for one evening?''
''Of course not,''
''But then don't. Wear something you like,''
''Hmpf. Easy for you to say. You always look good in those form-fitting jean skirts,''
''Is that an indicator that you wanna try my look?''
''As if I could pull anything like that off!''
