''Ah, James! You just SUCK!'' Avery said, snapping the fingers on both of her hands, as a gesture of another win.
James and she were playing the fun and a bit dangerous game of Exploding Snap. It never bored Avery, because her quick reactions guaranteed her a win.
''Because this game sucks! We should play chess! Like... and actually good, intelligent activity for intellectuals?'' James suggested and Avery laughed.
''Are you sure you're going to be able to beat me?''
''C'mon, Avery! Only Ben and Remus can beat me...'' James replied.
Remus eyed them, studying on the other side of the Common Room.
''Not true. I once beat him too!'' Peter said and Avery smiled.
''I was drunk, Peter,'' James snapped back. We laughed.
''Anyone want to get some food?'' Peter asked.
''No... We're good, right?'' James asked, giving Avery a glance to which she replied with a nod.
In just about twenty minutes, the tables had turned for the two.
''No! How did I not see that coming!'Avery exclaimed, seeing the rook she had wanted to protect so much earlier, get beaten by a knight.
''Turns out you suck at this game, Ave,'' James replied.
''I want another match. Maybe not today. I'm going to need some training though,'' she said, hoping to find Ben in the Common Room. ''wha-where is Ben?''
''He was here a minute ago,'' James said in a low voice.
''Not exactly. You two were too busy with the game,'' Remus said.
James stood up and walked over to him. Avery turned around as well.
''Did he leave alone?'' James asked.
James pranced outside, leaving the Gryffindor common Room behind them. Avery and Peter followed them immediately.
''Where you going?'' Peter asked.
''Are you all forming some sort of cult?'' Remus asked, finally catching up with the others as well and leaving the homework behind.
''Listen!'' Avery said and looked down.
Sirius and Ben were a few floors below them. They were standing on the fifth-floor platform. The both of them seemed to be waiting for the stairs to come.
Remus turned to Avery with a questioning look which she could not answer.
''Where are they going?'' he whispered, looking down.
''Ben hasn't told me anything,'' Avery commented.
''Maybe they're just going to Hogsmeade for a drink,'' Peter suggested.
