and together we drowned
in the stiff space between us
a suffocating air filled with words
neither wanted to say
"Darling, we are both so broken and I am not strong enough to fix you."

Eden propped her head up in one hand, her elbows digging into the scratchy table as she wrote over and over on a sheet of parchment: I will not use rude hand gestures in class. If only her detention with Draco could have been like this. In a room supervised by Professor Flitwick where they wouldn't have been able to talk.
98, she counted.
The sleeves of her blouse were rolled up, her hair tucked behind her ears as the cool winter air had begun to grow warm and humid due to the approaching Spring. The sweet floral scent of pollen drifted through and open window, and Eden raised her chin to get a better smell of it.
99
Professor Flitwick sat at the head of the empty classroom at a desk, his glasses slipping down his nose as he leaned further forward to read the parchment in front of him---whatever it was. 100. "Professor Flitwick, I'm finished." Eden set her quill down. "100 lines?" He looked up from his parchment.
"Yes, Professor." She raised herself from her seat, wandering down the rows of desks to hand the Professor her lines. "Very good." He said after reading the parchment. "What have we learnt?" He rolled it up and handed it back to Eden.
"That I shouldn't be using rude hand gestures in class." only out of class, she silently added. "Perfect. Off you go, now." He smiled, and Eden exited the classroom---tossing the parchment away in the closest bin.
Eden passed the library on the way back to her dorm, one quick glance telling her that Draco and his friends were studying. A thought occurred to Eden as she walked past, but she pushed it back down and continued walking.
Another minute passed, and the thought resurfaced. "Hm." She spun around, making her way back to the library. She paused in the doorway for a moment, watching as Draco frowned at something Theo had said. He was always frowning at the things Theo said.
"Impede." She slipped her wand out of her pocket, and pointed it at Draco's quill and parchment. A gust of wind shot from Edens wand and sent Draco's papers flying, his ink spilling and staining the table and his uniform.
Eden then leaned against the doorway, her arms crossed against her chest as Draco looked up to see what had caused the unexpected breeze. His eyes narrowed in displeasure as he noticed Eden and she sent him a spiteful wave before turning back into the hallway.
"Astrid!" A voice called from the end of the hall, and Eden didn't need to turn to know Draco was following her. She stuck her middle finger up in the air, and slipped into a nearby crowd. She let out a sigh of frustration as he shoved people out of the way to continue after her, and she quickly ducked into another corridor.
She did a few more turns, ducking into the smallest--most hidden-- hallways and tunnels she could find. If she stopped, Draco wins. If she let him follow her back to her dorm, then he'd know where her room was.
"Astrid, I swear to god." A voice echoed off a nearby corridor, and Eden groaned as he continued to gain on her. "That finger got you sent to detention in the first place, it's risky of you to be using it again so soon." His voice was mocking and almost playful, but Eden sensed the sliver of anger imbedded in his tone.
