She made it frighteningly clear from the beginning,
she didn't need me.
She didn't need anyone.
She was so perfectly complete in her own fantasy world,
only fascinated by those who challenged her,
provoked her thoughts and expanded her curiosity.
I was envious of that,
her adoration to learn.
But I couldn't help thinking that maybe she was just scared.
Scared of people leaving before she was ready to say
Goodbye.

It was no joke. He was there.
Eden pulled the fruit bowl painting open the next morning, relieved that Draco had not followed her from the common room to join her for breakfast--like he said he would. "It's a mixed berry pie but I added a bit of apple, as there wasn't enough berries." Eden announced, setting the pie down on the counter before she surveyed the room.
"Oh." She paused. Across the room--At Eden's table-- sat Draco Malfoy, accompanied by every single elf in the kitchen. There were only four seats at the table, so every elf that didn't sit in one crowded around it instead.
"What's going on?" Eden frowned as Winky pulled away from the crowd to thank her for the pie. "Master Eden!" Dobby beamed, following after her as Draco looked up in puzzlement. "Master Draco has brought us the butterbeer!" Dobby grinned as Eden began to cut the pie.
"You didn't drink it, did you!?" Eden set the knife down immediately. "We did, it was delicious." Dobby rubbed his stomach. "Dobby, no. You don't know what he put in there." Eden froze. "Relax, Astrid. I didn't poison it." Draco pushed away from the table to snatch up a slice of the pie.
"Where did you make this? In your dorm room?" Draco frowned as he bit into it. "Dobby and I made it after hours." She huffed--an envious feeling rising in her stomach as all the elves finished their drinks to get a slice of the pie.
"What did Master Draco call-" Dobby began, before Eden quickly cut him off. "Why did you bring them butterbeer?" She eyed him as she passed around the slices. "Leftovers from the little gathering the other week." Draco shrugged--though Eden was fairly sure there had been no leftovers.
"Oh? The one where I made out with Ginny Weasley?" Eden raised her eyebrows teasingly--wanting to see his reaction. He stopped chewing for a moment, before quickly swallowing. "Yes, that one."
"Master did what..?" Winky looked like she was about to faint. "Well, you've given out the butterbeer, you've had pie, and there's no more ravioli. You can go now." Eden rolled her eyes. "Oh, but the elves love me." Draco sat back down and kicked his feet up.
"So does Pansy Parkinson, go run off to her." Eden scowled. "Does Master Eden want any breakfast?" A timid elf by the name of Ollins came to ask her. "No, that's okay." Eden shook her head, she'd already had pie.
"What do they keep calling you?" Draco watched the elf go. "Master Astrid, what else?" Eden frowned, glad that the elf had kept his voice down. "I don't know." Draco looked away--as though it were embarrassing for him to have thought she'd been called something else. If only he knew.
