But our love it was stronger by far than the love
of those who were older than we
of many far wiser than we
and neither angels in heaven above
nor the demons down under the sea
can ever dissever my soul from the soul
of the beautiful Annabel lee.
-Edgar Allan Poe
"So, your mothers working today." Draco leaned over the bench, one slender finger gliding across the cool surface--as though inspecting it for dust. "Everyday but Sunday." Eden eyed him suspiciously from behind the box of cornstarch she was struggling to tear open.
"Wonderful. I want to visit her shop---seeing as you've never offered to take me." His piercing blue eyes narrowed with playful contempt as he watched her finally pull the cardboard top free. "You never asked." Eden shrugged, ignoring his theatrics. "Well I figured you'd want to show me." Draco's breath tickled her ear and she startled at his sudden closeness. His sneaking up on her was a terrible (not terrible at all) habit, and he was only getting better.
"The Garden of Eden." He hummed, as though tasting the words before reaching up to pick up the baking soda she'd been trying to reach--and trapping her in between himself and the cupboard in the process. Another terrible (not terrible) habit. "We can go, but I'm already making food." She snatched up the packet from his hands and attempted to duck beneath his arm. "Then we can just get coffee--or go this afternoon." Draco cut off her escape with a side-step. "You like coffee."
"Fine." Eden blew a stray hair out of her face. "But only if you go to the markets before we go back to school." She had been trying to convince him to accompany her for weeks now, but he somehow had some kind of "moral objection" to locally owned businesses? As if buying from big corporations is ethical? Though apparently her mothers bakery was now the only exception to his peculiar little rule.
"Fine." Draco compromised, his eyes twinkling with anticipation. "You know." Edens lips tugged upwards into a coy smile. "You're standing awfully close." She trailed her eyes purposefully down his towering frame and Draco huffed a soft laugh--sending a cascade of warm, minty air along her skin. "Awfully?" He echoed. "Is that the word you'd use to describe it?"
"Do you prefer 'dreadfully'? You're standing dreadfully close, Draco." She sounded out the syllables in his name and Draco's eyes fell shut--a heavy breath escaping from his parted lips. "I adore that sound." He murmured. "What sound?" Eden lifted herself onto her toes eagerly, her hands sliding up and over his shoulders.
"The sound of my name in your pretty little mouth. Never has a word sounded so lovely." He leaned down to press a devouring kiss upon said 'pretty little mouth.' "Hmm?" Eden tugged on his bottom lip with her teeth as his hands slipped beneath her shirt--well, his shirt, technically---to glide across her bare skin.
Edens fingers found Draco's hair of their own accord and began to tug gently on the soft strands there as Draco lifted Eden onto the main shelf of the pantry. (There were a series of larger shelves starting from the bottom that ended halfway--where smaller shelves lined the back of the cupboard (It's a real kind of cupboard, I swear I have one.))
Various bottles of vinegars, oils, ect, were knocked over or shoved to the back of the shelf as Draco placed her down. "Draco-" She began to protest, but his mouth pressed back against hers and she forgot everything beyond the taste of him on her tongue as her legs wrapped around his middle. Draco groaned into Edens mouth as she dug her heels into his thighs and pulled his hips harder against hers.
