8 YEARS OLD

I wrapped the final bento up in a colorful wrap, tying it in a perfect little knot; one that's tight enough to keep the whole bento together, but loose enough so that the kids could easily untie it at lunch.

I set the three bentos on the counter and checked the clock, it was about time for them to get up and get ready now.

Today is their first day of school, well real school anyways! Sho and I decided to homeschool them for the first couple of grades, both because we wanted to, and it felt safer.

We also just had the extra time to do it, with only one of us going into work a day, the other could always help out with schooling. But that was because the crime-rates were still at an all-time-low.

But recently in the past few months, things have started to pick up again. More and more crimes are being committed, and the crimes are beginning to increase in danger and intensity as well.

Both Shoto and I are required at work now, so the kids are going to have to go to school. Not that that's a bad thing, it's all they've been talking about this summer. Particularly the fact that they were going to get to go to the same school as Kasai, who has been sharing a million stories about what school is like.

I walked into their shared bedroom and pulled open the curtains, I opened the blinds and let the dim morning lights filter into the room.

It was still mostly dark outside, the sun on the crest of rising. Mae stirred and blinked open her eyes, I placed my hand on her head and brushed my fingers through her hair, "It's time to get up sweetheart. It's your first day of school!" I whispered. She shot up at my words, smiling brightly.

Then, without any warning, she launched herself out of bed, jumping straight onto Dashi. Dashi grunted and I chuckled, "Mae, get off!" He groaned, shoving his sister onto the floor.

She giggled and grabbed his arm, tugging him out of bed, "It's our first day of school! Let's go!"

He sighed and stood up, no matter how excited he was to go to school, he was NOT a morning person.

I ruffled his hair, "There's breakfast on the table." They both left the room at that, heading off to go eat, leaving me to wake up Miyo.

Neither of them dared wake up Miyo, they had tried before, and knew the pain of his wrath when he was ripped out of his blissful sleep. So they left it to me.

I carefully stepped up the ladder to Dashi and Miyo's bunk bed, seeing Miyo's wild golden brown hair sticking out from under his blankets.

I sweetly ran my hand down his back, he stirred a bit, then turned over to face me.

His eyes were still closed, and he yawned. He slowly blinked open his eyes and smiled when he saw my face. "Morning Mama." He mumbled.

"Good morning, Miyo, your brother and sister are already eating breakfast, you better hurry before they take it all." He nodded and sat up, I hopped down from the ladder and moved to go make sure Shoto was up himself.

I walked into our bedroom to see him pulling a shirt over his head. Before he could get it on all the way, I quickly tickled his side, causing him to flinch away from me, "Aha, you scared me, Love."

I giggled as he pulled his shirt down, he smiled and kissed me. I grinned, "I'm gonna head on to the agency, Jasmine texted me while I was making breakfast, the police need help interrogating a villain." I told him.
