I placed 3rd in my competition, woo! Sorry this chapter took so long, I was struggling to write one specific section. But we're all good now!

I laughed as Miyo got pink frosting on his nose. He laughed too and tried to reach the sugary ingredient with his tongue, crossing his eyes as he did so.
My heart melted on the inside at the adorable face he was pulling. I gently wiped away the frosting with a napkin as he continued stirring the toppings together.
Today is their ninth birthday. Shoto and I wanted to throw them a big party for multiple reasons. One, they deserve it after everything they've gone through this year. Two, it would be a real treat for all of their aunts and uncles who have been busy working day and night. And three, it gives Shoto and I an excellent excuse to spoil the three outwardly, without worrying about people assuming they're just three bratty rich kids.
Of course, they are more than spoiled anyway. But with Shoto and I being who we are, it's kind of impossible for them not to be.
Luckily, Shoto and I have been making sure they still understand that everything they have is a gift. We worked hard to let them live the easy life they are living, and they shouldn't take it for granted.
We haven't had to get onto any of them for acting bratty yet, we've been blessed with humble kids.
I think living in a somewhat traditional household setting for the majority of their lives definitely helped.
"Dashi!" Mae exclaimed, groaning as Dashi laughed loudly.
I looked over to see Mae with flour all over her face. Before Dashi could escape her wrath, she dumped the entire bag of flour over his head.
I gasped as it spilled all over the counter tops and floor, not to mention Dashi.
If you didn't know that half of his hair was red, you'd have no idea. Miyo bit his bottom lip to keep from laughing as he surveyed Mae's damage.
My eyebrows furrowed as I looked at Mae. She shrugged, "He started it." Miyo burst out laughing and Dashi was wiping his eyes, trying to clean them off.
I said nothing and shook my head, wetting a towel and cleaning Dashi's face off. I looked at her from over Dashi's head, "You're lucky it's your birthday or you two would be grounded in a heartbeat. You're cleaning this up though."
She grinned and nodded, skipping over to grab a broom and dustpan.
I looked at Dashi's clothes, "Go take a bath and clean yourself off." He nodded, "Sorry Mama, I didn't mean to make a mess." I smiled at him, "It's okay, a little flour never killed anyone." Miyo snorted, "A little?"
Dashi walked off to bathe as Miyo and I finished mixing up all the frosting. And then moved on to finish the batter that Dashi and Mae tried to use as ammunition.
We popped the cakes into the oven, three tiers, one for each of them.
Shoto was out picking up their birthday presents from us. We had already chosen them a week ago, but they couldn't be picked up until today.
Miyo and I worked to decorate the common room for the party festivities. He worked on the kid's stuff while I worked on stuff for the adults. No doubt we'd end up just talking and enjoying the little time we have to relax and forget about hero work and fighting.
