Chapter 20|Always

"Milk, do you look up to anyone?" You say, a smile lighting up your face.

Your thoughts lay on this afternoon's news where Endeavor led the way to another victory against a big villain group that had plagued Tokyo for years.

Milk inspected your expression from beside you, you humming and holding the small gas station door open for him. His bi-colored eyes narrowed at you in a look of confusion. He hadn't seen you so chipper in...ever.

"Yes. All Might." He responded, a questioning gaze flashing your way before his eyes widened at the aisles full of colorful bagged snacks he had never seen before.

"Yeah, he is pretty cool! I look up to him too. He and uncle Tji, and uncle kan!"

Skipping towards your usual aisles, you grab an assortment of snacks. Pondering over two of your favorites, you stare between the two for a long while.

"Uncle kan and uncle Tji?" Milk stared off in wonder at a pink and brown box featuring cone-shaped chocolate, "I thought they were your dads but you just have a lot of uncles." He off-handedly remarked.

"Mhm! But," stuffing one of your snacks back, you make your way over to him and catch a glimpse of what caught his attention, "they're not actually related to me."

"Oh, those are really yummy! But that pink part is strawberry so I don't think you can eat it." You grin cheekily to which his eyes once full of wonder narrow at you, heat filling his cheeks.

Taking the box off the shelf, he sticks his tongue out at your giggling form.

"Why did you even ask all of a sudden?" He questions as you motion for him to follow you into the hero-themed aisle.

"Well-uncle Tji," you held your hand out, he stared momentarily and took it, "-just today he beat up a bunch of villains thanks to his amazing leadership skills! Even though he always looks grumpy, he's really nice but I think some people don't understand him.. "

Although you smiled, your brows furrowed and Milk could see a bit of sadness in your gaze. Running up to the All Might-themed aisle, Milk was about to ask you something until you turned his attention to the hero snacks. You smiled while Milk stood starstruck.

"Isn't it amazing? There's tons of snacks-and they come with a toy or entry to a contest! Look," you pick up a bag of chips and give it a shake, his eyes following, "classic All Might chips!"

"whoa.." he gasped out, you handing him the bag.

Tracing the colorful chibi Might grinning on the bag, another munching on a chip, Milk couldn't help but wonder just how many amazing things he had yet to see. Leaving him to gaze at the bag with stars in his eyes, you look around to find more things to show him.

"Choose whatever you want, like maybe 2 or 3 more things. Today, I'll spoil you!" You declared, hands on your hips and meeting his eyes with confidence.

Since the time Milk had told you about his dad and how much of an asshole he was, you decided that if you couldn't help him then you could at least prevent him from going on without knowing the joys of life. That's why, after weeks of hard work and training, you managed to save up enough money to buy him a few things.
