After the night you lost complete control of your quirk over a few bad feelings, you made sure to just stay in your room mulling over how much of an idiot you were. The only time you ever left was to train for 25 minutes and use the bathroom. With all the snacks you stashed in your room you didn't even need to bother with the kitchen.
How could you have just let go so bad? Just because you didn't feel good that day? ..Though, there's no point in thinking about it now since it already happened.
Now, you stood sorting through the mail Seth had awkwardly handed to you as it was his turn to pick it up for the neighborhood.
Now I've really done it.
You walked to the living room and threw yourself on a couch. There had been numerous invitations for your dad, some bills, and tons of other random things.
For someone who's trying to control their quirk, I sure let in pretty easily.
Sifting through each letter and card with none addressed to you, you sighed.
I guess I've been pretty stressed since my quirk showed a small bit of resistance. I can't allow it to get any worse than it is. I have to get back to training soon.
Just as the mail was dwindling, you tossed one more card on the footrest and saw a letter with a red seal. Engraved into it was the famous sign of the hero school. An 'A' inside a U.
You jumped at that and sat up straight. A queasy feeling of butterflies in your stomach left you feeling a little nauseous and you couldn't help but frown. What if you didn't make it in?
Looking around the room, you remembered your dad was busy in his office and contemplated interrupting him. It didn't take long for you to get off your ass and run upstairs though. After knocking on his door, you let yourself in and showed him the letter before he could speak.
His eyes widened as he gestured you to sit in one of the chairs in front of his desk.
"I think I'm gonna be sick.." you admitted as you nibbled your lip.
To the right of the seal was "U.A. High School" written in black. You couldn't tear your eyes away from it even as your heart sunk. As if you had already failed.
"A good sick or bad sick?" He asked, trying to sound hopeful.
"Bad.." you swallowed thickly, "..sick."
He smiled and held your hand reassuringly.
"It's gonna be ok, sweetie. You couldn't have possibly failed! After all, You are the daughter of your mother and me." He spoke with his head held high.
Your mother, huh? Was she watching you from wherever she was?
I hope she's watching, even if I fail it's still good that I tried. Besides, there's always next year.
With that small pep talk, you felt your mind ease. No longer was your heart thumping so much causing you to sigh. You felt way better as you looked up to your pops and grinned happily. After cracking your knuckles, you picked up the envelope and tore it open with your teeth.
"Sweetie, you have two perfectly goo-" he said except you ignored him as a round piece of metal clatters onto his desk. A folded piece of paper stuck out of the letter.
It makes a noise as it started up and projected a large screen with thick blonde brows and a giant grin. You stared with wide eyes, a piece of envelope still between your teeth.
"I am here as a projection!" All Might's voice yelled out.
By this point, your pops had made it beside you and watched with equal confusion.
"Why's uncle Might..?" you couldn't finish your thought as he apologized about how he was busy and therefore couldn't contact you after the graduation.
"Actually, I came to this town to work at U.A." He explained.
So that's why he was able to make it to my graduation celebration...but wait, he's a teacher at U.A?!
"This is news to me. I guess that's why he was at U.A..." your pops mumbled as he stared into the screen with curiosity, a hand holding his chin.
"Now for the moment you've been waiting for!" He started, a bright grin shining through the screen as he called for a drumroll.
"As you know, there was a written exam and a physical one! Failing even one of them would automatically disqualify you."
You hardened your gaze, preparing for his next words.
"You passed the written exam but in the physical..." you could feel your heart drop at those words, "you only got 47 points which means you didn't pass." He said, voice slow and even.
It was hard not to frown at what he said. Feeling the material of your pj pants fill your fists, you sighed.
"If that was all there was to it!" Your ears perked up.
"The entrance exam the other day was not graded only on villain points! After all, how can a hero course reject people who save others and do the right thing? This is a job that requires risking one's life to put that lip service into practice!" He spoke with a determination in his every word causing you to smile.
It was the exact reason you had dreamed of being a hero all those years ago.
"Rescue points! And they're given by a panel of judges. It's the other basic ability we at U.A. look at!"
Steadying your breath, the camera had moved from scenes of said judges to a chart. It moved up from 10th place. When it slowed to a stop at 1st place and you saw your name, 47 villain points, and 40 rescue points, your heart dropped for a completely different reason.
"(Y/n) (L/n), 87 points!" He yelled as you spit out the piece of envelope. Not even a moment later, your pops glomped you in a hug and squealed into your ears.
You got up slowly as your pops watched you. With his arms still around you, you clenched your fist and screamed, "YES!"
"I know how much you've worked to get here, now come! This is your hero academia!"
Smiling brightly as an overwhelming feeling of excitement filled you, you nodded to the projection before it disappeared.
"You can count on it!"
Countless sleepless nights where you just roamed through life had ended this day. Thanks to all of the help you received from your mom, pops, and uncles, you were able to make it this far. This was as much of a success on their part as it was on yours. Now, with a dream and goal in mind, you'd stop at nothing to achieve your dreams of becoming a fantastic hero as your mother had before you.
You are sure to do her proud.

So this chapter was really tiny, for once. I just wanted to do something quick -- sorry for reusing some dialogue from the anime. I still don't really have All Might's character down so I decided to cheat a bit.. heh. Anyways, in the next chapter, you'll start your new life as a student going to U.A.! Finally. C':
My question for you: Would you like it if I continued with short 1000-2000 word chapters? Or do you prefer longer chapters like I've been doing? Let me know!
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed and if you didn't, that's alright too!
