By the time the timer ran out, both of Deku's arms were broken and bruised, passed out on the floor of the crumbling building. Even if they had been declared the winners, they were both left battered.
A perfect representation of losing the battle but winning the war.
"A..All Might, I-" you turned to the exit but before you made a break for it, All Might's hand sat on your shoulder.
"I know. Let's go."
Running up the last set of stairs, you pass a dazed Bakugo and slide to your friend on your knees. By the time you made it by him, the support bots had him on a stretcher and paused at the sight of you.
"Don't worry, I'll be quick." You say to the little bots chanting about how they needed to head to the nurses' office.
After cracking a finger to inject some blood into him, you raise a hand over Deku and drew in a slow breath. When your hand emits a crimson glow you open your eyes to heal him.
His arms gently fall back into place, the purple engulfing them fading a bit along with the heavy breaths he took in his sleep. As his breath eased, the scrapes on his face and arms began mending. From where you sat, you could nearly count every freckle on his scratched-up face.
"I probably know best just how she gets when you're even a little late with important matters." You chuckle lightly, gliding your hand past his opened mouth and ending it at the tips of his green curls.
Closing your hand, you move away to examine him. He no longer had any scrapes or unnaturally colored limbs, only the grime from battle and dry blood remained.
"You're so dumb.." you mumble, All Might looking your way.
The bots roll away as you watch. All Might bends over the stretcher just as they pass him to scan the boy, doing a small hum before grinning your way.
"You've improved so much, young (L/n)!"
He's gonna need a good shower after that. And this building..rest in pieces.
Your frown is followed by a sigh. If those kids don't fix their recklessness before they become pros, you can only imagine what kind of destruction they'd leave.
Luckily it's only their first match and it isn't real so they have plenty of time for improvements.
But that recklessness...
For some reason, you felt a headache come on suddenly.
"What's the matter, (L/n)?" Might sensei inquired at your sigh.
Jerking lightly, you look up. Was he talking to you? Oops.
"Um, well, as cool as that move Deku did was, you know what woulda been cooler? Minimal damage! I mean, do you know how much this would cost?" You admit, cringing as you recalled all the damage you had done in your younger days.
Then again, there's also that building I made a hole in..and that car I blew up...
Yeah, maybe it wasn't just in your younger days.
He pauses. Just as you look over to him to find him sweating and averting his gaze, he clears his throat.
Right. He's a pro, of course he would know.
"I see what you mean. Luckily, this was only a test but damages from first years are to be expected so do not worry!" He exclaimed with a thumbs up.
"That's true, 's just painful to see so much money go down the drain-" Your eyes widen, "oh! but don't get me wrong! I hope they're ok too, it's just that I know they won't die..." you sigh, kicking a few pebbles that once acted as a wall..or floor, who knows, "can't say the same for the building though."
