"You look exhausted," Lena commented as she glanced over at Isaac. They were both getting something out of their lockers and so they were directly next to each other. She'd only just gotten there and was about to open her locker. They hadn't spoken to each other since

"I was helping Scott watch over Melissa last night. Make sure she's not the third sacrifice," he admitted and she nodded in understanding, "they've been letting me stay so I thought it was the least I could do."

She was wearing a murky red long-sleeved top that had lace trim on the hems, it had a v-neck but the empty space on her chest was taken up by a new necklace. One different to the one that her mother had given her; that necklace had been sat on top of her drawers for a few days now. This necklace was a thin piece of black rope and on the front was the smallest amethyst crystal with two silver beads beside it. As well as that she had a silver necklace which had two silver circles looped around each other and that one sat in the middle of her collar bones. It was matched with a pair of black high-waisted skinny jeans and her doc martins. Her hair had been perfectly curled again but this time the front strands were pinned back to keep it out of her face.

Frowning, she glanced up at him again as she struggled to unlock her locker, "you're staying with Scott?" She asked.

"Yeah, Derek kicked me out," he droned and without thinking, he stepped to the side and picked up the lock. As his hands brushed against hers a heat began to rise to the tip of her ears her heartbeat just that second faster. She stepped out of the way as he unlocked the locker for her. He even knew the passcode be now.

"Y-you didn't tell me that," she said after a moment as she searched him for some form of lie. She didn't think he was lying but on a deeper level, she wished he was and that if something like that did happen he would have gone to her for help or at least told her about it.

"I didn't want to worry you," he admitted keeping his eyes away from her.

"You're worrying me more by not telling me," she admitted and he trailed his eyes over her as she did him. The noise of the hallway seemed to fall silent and perhaps it was just them, but the halls felt a little bigger now, as did the space between them and it was difficult to fight the instinct to step closer.

"I've come up with a plan," Boyd's voice called as his hands slammed down onto Isaac's shoulders and both Isaac and Lena flinched as they snapped awake and looked over to him. He frowned looking between them confused, "did I interrupt something?"

Isaac opened his mouth but Lena beat him to it, "no," she said, "no you didn't," she added on pressing a smile to her lips and Isaac froze as he looked over her again. it felt like something to him, "see you later."

Tapping the edge of her pen against the desk, she sat alongside everyone else as the fire alarm went off. Even though she knew it was likely a drill and there was no fire there she couldn't help but panic and think about the actual dangers which came from fire.

As she was walking out of the school she noticed Lydia and Aiden making out in Coach's office and she rolled her eyes slamming open the door, "do you two mind?" She asked, looking between them, "in case you haven't noticed there is potentially a fire and I'd rather not go to another fire-related funeral so if you'd get your hinds outside," she trailed off looking between them.

"When in high school has a fire alarm actually been a real fire?" Aiden scoffed.

"Three years ago," Lena cut in, "Mr Yates in science was showing us something and he set a gummy bear on fire. It was a fire. It counts now get a move on," she urged, and Aiden rolled his eyes.
