Chapter Forty Three: The Search

-Argus. Four Months after The Gate Incident.-

The port city of Argus. Four months ago, King Ghidorah attacked and destroyed it, killing its protector in the process.

Now however, the city was rebuilt in much the same vein as it did before its destruction. This was thanks largely in part of the new APEX corporation that arrived at the city.

APEX had done in a few short months, what Atlas was unwilling to do for years.

In the APEX Headquarters in Argus, the true objective of it's overlord were being worked on. Mechagodzilla slammed its metal fist into a Hydra's middle head, crushing it's skull and cleaving the neck off.

The robot Kaiju grabbed the remaining heads as it fired it's new Maser Cannon at the Grimm Hybrid, cutting it in two.

After it was done, Mechagodzilla's body suddenly powered down, dropping the corpse it was holding.

[30% power.] It reported. [Commence system diagnostics, and scrub all junk data. Prepare unit 4 for further upgrades.]

[WARNING. WARNING.] An automated voice said. [KAIJU DETECTED OFFSHORE. ETA TWO MINUTES.]

[Godzilla.] Mechagodzilla said.

Off the pier, a blue light illuminated the water, before familiar dorsal spines emerged from the water.

The spines rose further from the water, until Godzilla brought his head above water and roared. His eyes and his dorsal spines were glowing blue, and he looked less than happy.

Godzilla soon made landfall, and took a step towards the APEX building.

[Engage Godzilla.] Mechagodzilla ordered. [I require time to upload to the main server.]

Atlesian Knights piloting fighters took to the air to try and draw Godzilla's attention to them.

A few missiles hit his chest, causing the King of the Monsters to let out an annoyed roar. He managed to swat one out of the sky, before hitting another with his tail.

Another fighter shot at him, and avoided Godzilla's hand, but was hit by his tail instead.

The final one fired rockets at Godzilla's face, which just made the Kaiju look at it, before he fired his Atomic Breath at the ground, before sweeping it towards the fighter, destroying it.

[Upload, complete.] Mechagodzilla reported.

Suddenly, the building was destroyed, along with whatever Mechagodzilla was building.

Godzilla swept his breath attack across the APEX building, ensuring that it was rubble.

As the rubble cleared, a metallic eyeball was all that was left of the metal unit. It was making a warbling sound for awhile, before it fully deactivated.

Godzilla let out a mighty roar, as the facility lay in ruins before him.

-Mantle.-

Weiss was sitting in the hospital room that Ruby was in. Doctor Serizawa, the man who was taking care of her leader and lover, had always been honest with the Heiress that had reminded her of Godzilla's brutal honesty. Something she couldn't help but smile at.

Speaking of Godzilla, Serizawa had told her at one point, that he frequently visited Ruby as well. Maybe he felt guilty, or responsible for Ruby's condition, but Weiss didn't blame him. No she blamed her father, may his soul burn in hell.

Ruby's hair had grown over the four months she was comatose. It was shoulder length now, and Weiss had been combing it to keep it from matting.

"Still here, Ice Queen?" Yang said.

Weiss just sighed.

"Don't call me that, Yang... Please." She replied. "I never liked it."

Yang looked at her sister and her usual upbeat attitude faded.

"She still hasn't woken up, huh?" She asked.

Weiss shook her head.

"There's brain activity, though." She replied. That's something, at least."

"Weiss..." Blake began. "It's been four months. I want her to wake up too, but... We have to consider the fact that she might never wake up."

"No." Weiss said with finality. "She'll wake up. She will!"

"Weiss.." Yang began. "I hope you're right... I miss my baby sister a lot. More than I..."

Yang tried to fight back her tears as her emotions started running wild.

"I lost my uncle during the Siege of Vale..." She said, her voice breaking a bit. "I don't wanna lose my sister... I don't think I could bear it."

"Hey, have you guys seen the news, yet?" Nora asked.

[I'm Lisa Lavender, reporting live from Argus, where just last night, the Headquarters building used by the APEX Corporation was apparently attacked and destroyed by none other than Godzilla.] The TV said. [The once peaceful Kaiju has now attacked three random facilities, in four months. The question on everyone's mind now, is why the King of the Monsters is doing this?]

-Atlas Headquarters.-

"Come on, Ironwood! You can't be serious about this!" Oscar protested. "There's a reason that Godzilla is targeting APEX, but we're just not seeing it. I mean, why just destroy the APEX building and then withdraw into the ocean afterwards!?"

"Doesn't matter." Ironwood replied. "About a hundred people were killed in that building. Scientists."

"Again, we're not seeing his reasons for it." Oscar reiterated. "I mean, there's a reason he flashed an intimidation display while emerging from the bay?"

"That's hardly my biggest concern right now, Oscar!" Ironwood snapped. "Right now, Godzilla is out there somewhere, killing people, and we DON'T. KNOW. WHY!"

Ironwood then walked off, ready to order a search for Godzilla.

I think that's where I'll end it. So yeah, Godzilla is searching for Mechagodzilla. So, as a quick note, APEX is a cover for Mechagodzilla to work on it's new body.
