The basketball flew into my hands like a magnet, and I began to dribble to the hoop. A tall opponent hovered before me like a wall, her hands above her body.
I bent my knees as I let my feet push me off the ground, and I pushed myself to the side of her at full speed. Blink and you would miss me.
I let the ball leave my fingers as I threw it into the basketball hoop before landing perfectly on my feet like a cat.
As I landed, a buzzing noise ran through the court. The game was over, we won. Cheers echoed around me as I landed the tall girl a sly smile.
"Better luck next time, right?" I said to her and her face turned red with anger. She opened her mouth to say something but her teammate went up to her.
"Good job out there Rosso like always.." my coach said to me and I nodded. My teammates gave me an envious look. Most of them I was good friends with, but they all were jealous of my abilities.
"Thank you Coach." I said as I took a chug of water. I went to the bleachers to find my best friend Gina waiting for me.
"You did so good Rhiannon!" she smiled at me.
"Thanks! Next up is your volleyball game.." I nudged her and she laughed.
"Yeah, let's hope I do as good as you.." she said nervously and I put my arm around her.
"Hey don't even stress about it, you got this!" I encouraged her.
"Thanks. Means a lot coming from the Queen of the court.." she said.
"What did you just call me?" I began to laugh.
"The Queen of the court! I've never seen anyone our age as good as you.." Gina explained.
"Well 'Queen of the court' or not, I'm telling you you got this as your best friend.." I patted her on the shoulder and she nodded.
"Speaking of, we have our last practice today before the game. Wanna come?" she asked me and I agreed.
I got changed into my everyday clothes, then went to Gina's practice. All the girls were there already warming up.
Gina was a year older than me, so she was in eighth grade. After this year she'd be going to high school, and I had no clue what I was going to do without her..
"Excuse me!" I heard a male voice yell out to me.
"Eh?" I turned around to see a short scrawny ginger boy running towards me, panting.

"I-I saw your basketball game today, you were amazing!" he struggled to get his words out as he barely managed to catch his breath.
"Thanks, I really appreciate it." I smiled at him.
