saiyr laughed as she watched her boyfriend's attempt at cooking. shareef wasn't a bad cook but he only knew so much and watching him fumble about in the kitchen caused great amusement to saiyr. "oh, you think this is funny huh?" saiyr shrugged and made her way to shareef, wrapping her arms around his waist from the back as he continued cooking. "it's a little funny." he huffed out a laugh and she knew he was just as amused as she was at his cooking attempt. "a for effort though, babe." she kissed his back and extracted herself from him, sighing in content at the ocean breeze that went through the patio doors. the couple was currently in ibiza and enjoying the sun and shine. it was a needed break from both school and for saiyr, family drama that she didn't want to be near. her father was still very much insisting on monique pressing charges and the like on her former boyfriend but monique had stated that she was ready to move past that point in her life and move forward. she distanced herself from them as soon as school started back up and she was back at her dorm while keeping contact with saiyr and their mom, who was very understanding of her decision to distance herself. saiyr wasn't surprised that monique wanted space, especially when she was being reminded constantly about her trauma. she just wanted space to breathe and though she hated being back at her dorm because of the reminder of that night, she felt it was easier than being around the rest of her family.

"i'm happy we came here. i really needed the break." saiyr knew how much shareef needed the break from school and basketball especially since he had gotten injured. he hated feeling like he didn't matter when it came to the game and since he got injured a week and a half prior to their mini vacation. saiyr did know how much this trip meant to him because she knew that he felt like he had reached a dead end in his college basketball career and while his injury would be healed come the next two weeks, saiyr knew it would take shareef a while longer to get back to his correct mental state and if a vacation could ensure that he gets back into the swing of things, then who was saiyr to deny her man?

shareef laid a plate on the table that sai was occupying, filled with an omelet that looked like it was oozing with cheese and stuffed with sautéed peppers and onions. he put down apple juice and handed her a fork and knife while he went to the kitchen to grab his own food. when he returned, the couple said a quick prayer and dug into their meal. it was rare that shareef cooked for me but she thought it was sweet whenever he did and she appreciated it each time. nowadays, the two spent their time on facetime and imessage since school had forced them apart and saiyr wasn't going to take this small vacation for granted. she had missed her boyfriend even though they had last seen each other on thanksgiving and with the holidays coming, she couldn't wait to spend time with him.

with christmas fast approaching, shareef had asked if saiyr wanted to meet his family which included his parents and his siblings and to say saiyr was nervous was an understatement. when shareef had met her family, they had loved him, with her mom saying that she thought shareef suited saiyr and that they made a cute couple. her family made him feel like one of their own and she was happy that she got along with her siblings and her parents treated him as their own son. they haven't been dating long but it felt longer than the five months that they were together for. 

"so are you excited about christmas?" saiyr nodded as glanced at shareef before continuing with her breakfast. "we'll spend the day with your family right? and then head to mine?" shareef nodded in agreement of their christmas day plans. they planned for saiyr to meet his parents early and for them to spend the rest of the day with his family, which is why shareef asked his siblings and his parents to come together for the day so he could introduce them to his girlfriend and he was excited because he was introducing someone he loved to his family which he also loved. he hoped his family made her feel welcome but then again, he couldn't control how they felt about her but he knew saiyr enough to know his family would adore her. she had a personality that drew people in and made them like her. "i can't wait for my family to meet you, sai." he leaned over to her and kissed her softly, drawing a beautiful smile to overcome her face. "i also, can't wait. you're sure your family doesn't mind me intruding?" he nodded and stood up, grabbing his empty plate and his girlfriend's plate as well. "they don't mind. my mom is actually excited to meet you." and it was true because his mom couldn't stop calling and asking what saiyr liked and disliked to eat and if she would feel comfortable enough to eat lunch with them. it wasn't surprising that she wanted to know more about saiyr considering he gushed to her about his girlfriend all the time. his mom couldn't blame him because he was young and in love. he just wanted christmas to come already and for his family to meet the love of his life.
