summer walker's voice echoed in saiyr's room as she laid on her bed, the rain providing background noise to the music she was playing which filled her with content. she was loving the vibe she had going on and it had been going on for almost the whole day since she had decided that she wanted to leave her parents house and get back to her apartment, feeling overwhelmed with everything that was going on at the house. when she had arrived back at her apartment, she was greeted by silence since candace had gone to her parents house to spend time with them for thanksgiving and had informed saiyr that she would only be back the following week but had taken all of her school work. saiyr was done with any outstanding work that she needed to complete for school and she had spent the rest of the day relaxing in her room at her apartment. she had nothing to do but relax yet she was plagued by her thoughts, especially about her sister and what she went through. although her dad and brothers wanted to take things through the legal route, monique didn't want to do that and had insisted that they leave it alone. deron was upset but understood that it was monique's decision at the end of the day and there was nothing they could do about it. saiyr understood her decision but she also felt like monique just needed a little pushing, she needed someone that can be strong for her even when she was feeling like she couldn't be strong for herself. to saiyr, monique was the strongest person and she was always the person she went to when she needed someone to help her be strong mentally and emotionally. to know that someone had basically destroyed that part of monique made her heart feel heavy and she felt like crying for her sister.as saiyr continued to be plagued by her thoughts, there was a knock on her door which snapped her out of her thoughts. saiyr got up from her bed and went to the front door as the knocking continued. when she opened her door, her sister was standing before her with a timid smile on her face, face bare and wearing some sweatpants and a hoodie with her hair in a bun. "hey. what are you doing here?" mini held up a paper bag which displayed the chipotle label. "i got us some food so we can talk." saiyr stepped aside and let her inside and closed the door. monique left the food on the coffee table in the living room and went to go get something for them to drink.
when monique came back, the two sat down on the couch and opened their meals, saying a quick prayer before digging into their food. they are in comfortable silence but saiyr knew that her sister had a lot on her mind. she continued eating though because she didn't know whether to break the silence or not. "i'm scared." it was monique who broke the silence, looking at saiyr with a terrified look in her face, showing every bit of her fear. saiyr could see that her sister was scared and she felt her heart tighten at what she had gone through. saiyr put both her food and monique's on the coffee table and grabbed her hands, firmly squeezing them as she looked at her sister. saiyr had no way of comforting monique but she would be there for her, as she has always been there for her as well. "it's okay to be scared, i would've been surprised if you weren't honestly." monique chuckled a bit, sniffling as she tried to hold back her tears. the two sisters sat in silence for awhile, both deep in their thoughts and their food forgotten temporarily.
"you know, i met a guy before everything happened, at the library, and he was asking for me to tutor him and i saw him." she breathed out, tears welling up in her eyes. "i saw him with his friends outside the library and kadeem- that's the guy who needed me to tutor him was with me. he must've thought i was flirting with him or something and it must've set him off because he came over to my place later, starting yelling and saying awful things," by now tears were streaming down monique's face and saiyr moved closer to her sister, rubbing her back in a soothing manner. "and i tell him i'm not going to entertain his jealously. i remember moving towards the door to let him out and he grabs my arm roughly and-" she lets out a shaky exhale, her hands tightly clenched in her lap. "i just remember being in so much pain and he wouldn't stop, no matter how much i begged him to. i must've passed out at some point because i woke up alone and in pain. i just knew i needed someone to help so i ask kadeem." she smiles small, shaky but there. "he's been so helpful and i'm grateful for him, sai. i really am. he didn't know me but he went out of his way to make sure i healed, took notes in class for me and he was just there." saiyr watched and listened as her sister talked about kadeem and thought about how her eyes were filled with hope, lit up and shining because of him. she silently thanked him and if she ever met him in person, she would express her gratitude for how he helped her sister. "i want to take legal action but i also want to move on from the situation. i hate having to relive that day, going to court and talking about it? i don't know if i have the strength for that." saiyr grabbed monique's hands into hers and tightly squeezed them in comfort. "i know we have no right to tell you what to do sis, at the end of the day it's your choice and you'll be the one to live with the trauma. i just want you to know, that whatever decision you decide to take, we're here for you. i'm here for you, you don't have to be alone in this, ever." saiyr could see the pain in her eyes and she didn't want monique to ever have to relive that for the sake of legal action, she just wanted to be there for her sister no matter what. their family would be there for her no matter what, and they'll be her strength when she can't have strength in herself.
this kind of ties up the situation with monique, with only mentions of it moving forward and not whole chapters.
i just wanted to show that through saiyr's eyes, monique has only been strength no matter what. she's a strong young woman and to saiyr, she's been her rock but now monique needs someone else to be her rock and saiyr will take that upon herself because 1. that's her sister and 2. monique has always been there for her and she wants to do the same.
this chapter has been delayed because i couldn't really figure out how to write down what i wanted to write down but here it is and sorry for the long wait❤
anyways!
i'll probably update by next week or before that.
