today, sai, her mom and khalil were headed to kendra's baby shower. the event itself was being hosted at her kendra's parent's house in santa monica. the bailey's wanted to show their support of their daughter by throwing her the baby shower with help from her friends as well. although they had been angry at kendra for getting pregnant so young and so early in her relationship with omar, they came around and supported her throughout.

deron had decided not to go, but had talked to both omar and kendra who understood. he had sent them presents however, of which they were thankful for. sai sat in the passenger seat with her mom driving and khalil sitting in the back seat. sai was wearing a strapless black dress that reached mid-thigh and some black heels. as opposed to wearing her short hair, she had chosen to wear a wig. they pulled into the driveway of the bailey's house and got out. they were greeted by kendra's mom - nicole - who hugged them and looked at khalil with a smile. "and who is this young man?" london smiled and introduced him. "this is khalil, my son." nicole looked confused for a moment but smiled and nodded. "well welcome to the party, omar is on his way with kendra." we nodded and made out way to the decorated patio. kendra's dad and brother - michael and dior - were adding final touches to the decor. i looked around and saw kendra's friends and some of omar's who i waved at while standing next to khalil. marvin, who was omar's best friend, headed over to us and hugged me while dapping khalil up. "hey sai, i haven't seen you in a while." "bro you don't live in cali though." he chucked and nodded in agreement. "you got me there. so what's this i hear about you having a boyfriend?" i rolled my eyes mentally at the question. marvin always wanted to know my business, even when it didn't concern him. "i do have one, yes." he nodded, but i could tell he was disappointed. see, marvin and i used to have a mutual crush on each other but he never wanted it to go further considering my age and the fact that i was his best friends sister. after he moved to sacramento last year, i got over him and clearly i moved on. which i guess i couldn't say the same for him. "you look good though and it's great to see you again." i could feel khalil's eyes on me but before i could comment, nicole told us that omar and kendra were here. we quieted down and waited for them to appear. footsteps echoed and i could hear kendra's voice. "why is it so quiet? momma, where's daddy?"

she came into view and her eyes widened at seeing us. "surprise!" you could see she was shocked before she looked at omar who smiled at her. "you did this?" "i came up with the idea and your friends and parents helped out." she hugged and kissed him, tears welling up in her eyes. "thank you guys so much, i really appreciate it."

the baby shower continued on and you could see kendra was beyond happy. her and omar were over the moon after finding out the gender of the baby and so was everyone else. she squealed and she came and hugged me after all the festivities, her bump lowkey putting a stop to her hug which caused me to laugh. "shut up." she pouted and rolled her eyes. she looked nice in her black and white striped dress and sneakers with her hair down and makeup simple. "thank you for coming though. it means a lot." "of course, you're welcome kenny." she beamed and side-hugged khalil who chuckled. "also i should tell you that monique is here." she whispered when she let go of khalil and  my heart dropped as i looked over kendra's shoulder and saw my sister talking to mom and omar. she hadn't noticed yet but i'm guessing she could feel my eyes on her because she locked eyes with me before they slid over to khalil and a glare settled on her face. oh shit. she walked over with mom and omar hot on her heels and stood in front of us, smile tight. "hey sis, long time no see." i nodded and smiled at her. she looked at khalil and we waited for a beat before she nodded at him. "khalil, right?" he nodded in response. "monique." she raised an eyebrow and nodded. an awkward silence enveloped over us and kendra excused herself to go attend to her guests. "look, i know shit is awkward but can we try and be civil?" i could tell khalil was surprised at the offer and so was i but he nodded nonetheless. "sure thing." monique smiled and walked off, which hurt because she barely uttered more than one sentence to me. khalil noticed my silence and nudged me. "go talk to her." i walked off to find monique, to see her outside by the garden on her phone. "i'll fly out as soon as possible, babe. i just have to finish up here." she noticed me walking towards her and ended the call. "hey." she smiled at the greeting and nodded. "didn't we already greet each other?" i shrugged and looked at her. she looked nice in her orange dress and hair in a bun. "i missed you," she smiled sadly and shook her head. "i know i was a bitch 'bout everything. ignoring everyone and just taking things out on khalil when he wasn't to blame and for that i apologize, especially after you tried to reach out so many times." monique must've had time to think about everything if she was spilling her emotions out like this. "it's fine. as long as you don't take things out on khalil or even dad as much, then it's okay." she sighed and looked away for a moment before nodding. we were silent for a while, both in our thoughts before she broke it. "so i broke up with josh." my eyes bugged out as i looked at her, which made her laugh. "don't worry, it was mutual. we just didn't have much in common." she shrugged as if it was nothing and i guess it wasn't to her. "i do, however, have a new boyfriend." she smiled softly and i could tell she was definitely happy with whoever he was. "what's his name?" "girl, i'm not telling you." monique giggled at her sister's surprised face. despite them being the best of friends, she wasn't ready for anyone to know about her boyfriend yet. "well anyways, i've really missed you sis." she smiled and hugged me tightly. "me too."
