A content smile on her face as she sank beneath the turbulent waves.
It was a beautiful day in Qinghe- the sun shining down brightly on the grey walls, lighting up the dull, monochrome towers in a splendid array of colors. The birds were chirping happily from their perches- the disciples scurrying around as they went about their day. The soft hum of the saber- slashing through the air, echoed through the training fields.
All and all- it truly was such a beautiful day.
What a shame though- that such a glorious day would be tainted by the heads of Nie Huaisang and Wei Wuxian rolling on the ground.
Jiang Cheng shook his head, his eyes narrowing at his brother and friend.
He would never admit it- but over the course of two weeks, Nie Huaisang had begun to grow on him. The fucker was a little leech, always clinging to him like some parasite. He was a dramatic shit- screaming his ass off for no fucking reason.
But god fucking dammit.
As much as Jiang Cheng hated to admit it- Nie Huaisang had weaseled his way into his life, slowly starting to carve a permanent spot for himself in Jiang Cheng's heart.
And maybe... just maybe... Jiang Cheng would even go as far as to call him a friend.
Maybe even best friend.
Maybe, of course- being the keyword.
Right now though, Jiang Cheng was ready to throttle the little shit.
He would certainly take great satisfaction in watching his head roll to the ground- his stupid mouth zipped shut. But of course- that would upset Nie Mingjue. And we couldn't have that, now could we?
Especially since the Qinghe Nie's Sect Leader had been so kind as to accommodate them- even going so far as to offer many of his own, personal healers to help with Yu Ziyuan's condition.
Of course- that hadn't been necessary.
Jiang Cheng's mother had woken a few days ago- her body still shaky and weak. She had spent most of her time with her husband- her recovery doing wonders for Jiang Fengmian's complexion.
Indeed, Sect Leader Jiang had begun to regain his healthy tan- miles better than the pale, sickly pallor of his grey skin. He had started to smile more too- his lips quirking up in genuine happiness. There was a life in his eyes- a stark contrast from the dull, blankness that shone only days ago.
Hell, even Yu Ziyuan had been less grumpy lately- sticking close to her husband's side. She had been exasperated, of course- pissed off by Jiang Fengmian's mother henning. But she had accepted it nonetheless- the two of them exchanging secret smiles.
Why, the other day she had even cracked a joke! In a rare case of humor, she had smiled at Jiang Cheng- telling him that he should never have kids- for it was impossible to childproof the house! The kids would always get in, she had murmured, a twinkle in her eye as she gazed upon her children.
Jiang Cheng had been shell-shocked, his jaw dropping open in shock at the sight of his mother's laughter. Yu Ziyuan had her brows arched in amusement, a soft blush creeping up her neck as she fiddled self-consciously.
Of course, Jiang Fengmian had been quick to reassure her- his hearty laugh ringing through Qinghe Nie.
And while the joke itself- had been rather... lackluster- Jiang Cheng had chuckled regardless.
Because it was the thought that counted. Right?
And besides- his mother had looked so happy! He would hate to ruin her fun!
