"Yes uncle!"
Lan Xichen was pouting.
Or well, he was always pouting- but this time he was really whining. His A-Cheng was leaving tomorrow, and Xichen wasn't pleased about it at all. He wanted Jiang Cheng to stay in Gusu and play with him! He didn't want to let his beloved go yet.
But alas, his uncle clearly had other plans.
"Xichen! Are you done over there? Go help Young Master Jiang pack!" the old man cried jovially, a delighted look on his face. Lan Qiren for one, couldn't wait until the omega left. Much as he loved his future nephew-in-law, he just couldn't bear to see Xichen act so shameless! For god's sake, his eldest nephew was to be the Sect Leader one day! And for him to act so... so unashamed of his brazen actions was just... well it was unacceptable of an up and coming Sect Leader! Granted Jiang Cheng was his mate, but still! How many public displays of affection could one take?
Lan Xichen frowned, whimpering as he shuffled closer to his mate. "A-Cheng," he muttered, his pout becoming even more pronounced now. "What do we do? You have to leave tomorrow."
"It's ok Huan-ge, you can still come to Lotus Pier sometime!" the younger boy chirped, throwing his arms around his alpha. "Besides! I'll write you a lot of letters!"
"But A-Cheng..."
"Huan-ge don't be sad! A-Cheng doesn't like it when Huan-ge is sad! Huan-ge can take A-Cheng out to Caiyi town! You can buy me a gift!"
Lan Xichen's face immediately brightened. "My A-Cheng wants a gift from me?" he cooed, gazing tenderly at the blushing omega.
"Hmph, Huan-ge always twists my words!"
"It's not twisting if it's true!"
"Huan-ge~" Jiang Cheng whined, scrunching his nose up. "Don't tease me!"
Xichen chuckled, gently ruffling the younger boy's hair before turning towards his uncle with a pleading look. "Uncle?" he asked, arching a brow in question. "May I?"
Lan Qiren gave a long, insufferable sigh. He dragged a tired hand across his face. It was Jiang Cheng's last day here... he might as well make it memorable. Right? Oh god, he really hoped that he was making the right decision.
Turning his face up in silent prayer, Lan Qiren held his breath. Please don't do anything stupid. Please don't embarrass our sect. Please don't spend so much that we end up in debt. Please have some sense of propriety. Please don't think everyone in the Lan Sect is as shameless as Xichen...
"Uncle?"
It would be good for the two to spend some more time together- even if it drove Lan Qiren crazy. "You will need chaperones," Qiren declared at last, pointing at a few of the senior disciples. "They will accompany you."
Lan Xichen shot him a bright smile. "Thank you Uncle!"

Four hours later, and Lan Xichen was still not done. It wasn't his fault that every store had something perfect for his A-Cheng! It wasn't his fault that he nearly bought out the whole Caiyi! And it certainly wasn't his fault that all the seniors were wearing grumpy looks on their faces!
Each disciple was nearly swamped with bags full of jewels and clothes. Lan Xichen hadn't been able to stop himself from buying everything he thought would look good on Jiang Cheng, and now his money bag was significantly lighter.
Oh, his uncle would kill him when he got back.
But that could wait until later. For now, he would enjoy shopping with his A-Cheng!
