"Marrying me would help."
Lan Xichen had no qualms admitting that he was stalking Jiang Cheng.
I mean come on! Could you really blame him?
His beloved little omega was all decked out in red- a thin red veil barely covering his beautiful face. Crimson robes hugged his plush figure, accentuating the small waist and broad shoulders. Gold trim adorned the sides of his dress, matched with the metallic shine of his hairpin. A soft blush stained his rosy cheeks, and his eyes glowed in the dim candlelight. Those violet orbs shone with such joy and happiness, a dewy mist already slipping down his radiant face. His swollen lips curved up in a shy smile, his lashes fluttering as he glanced up at his mate.
In short: Jiang Cheng was beautiful.
Never mind that Lan Xichen had practically dragged the omega out of bed once Jiang Cheng had said yes. Never mind that they barely had time to get ready, the alpha in Xichen roaring to life as weeks of separation caught up to him. Never mind that Nie Mingjue's eyes had nearly bulged out of his head when Lan Xichen went to him in search of a veil. Never mind that Nie Huaisang had been beside himself, laughing and giggling as he pulled out a dress for Jiang Cheng. Never mind that Wei Wuxian had finally woken up, delighted to be officiating his little brother's ceremony.
Never mind Jiang Fengmian and Lan Qiren had yet to be notified of their children's union. Never mind Lan Xichen was going to be killed two seperate times when news of his elopement reached the ears of his uncle.
Oh no.
Never mind all that.
Because none of that mattered right now.
Lan Xichen could deal with his uncle's scoldings later- the older man no doubt furious that he wasn't invited to his own nephew's wedding. He could get chewed out by Jiang Fengmian afterward- the Sect Leader surely already plotting to poison Xichen in his sleep. He could tell his little brother some other time- the younger jade certain to be disgusted by his antics.
He would handle the consequences when they came.
But for now?
For now, he stood by Jiang Cheng's side, happiness taking root inside him at the side of his mate's flushed face. For now, he held his omega close- the alpha in him preening with satisfaction at the swollen lips and rumpled robes. For now, he was planning a wedding, relieved to finally claim Jiang Cheng as his.
For now, he was ready to be husband and wife- treasuring his beloved wife till his very last breath.
Lan Xichen grinned, marching forward to wrap his arms around Jiang Cheng- basking in the sweet scent of lotus that accompanied the omega.
He was just about to get there- when the rough stick of bamboo slapped down on his hand, and Lan Xichen jerked his head up in shock. "Who-"
"Now, now, Xichen-Xiong," Wei Wuxian murmured, twirling his newly made flute in his hand.
For some reason- ever since he had woken up, Wei Wuxian had this strange fixation with music. He would bring his flute everywhere- blowing that awful melody of his around Qinghe.
It had gotten so bad that Nie Mingjue had blown up and forbade him from ever playing the flute again.
"Yes, Wei Wuxian?" Lan Xichen asked, trying to keep his voice perfectly neutral.
It wouldn't do to upset the in-laws.
"Xichen-Xiong, I know you want my little sister. But could you please exercise some self-restraint? I still have a wedding to officiate, you know?" Wei Wuxian cried, a knowing smirk on his face as he arched a brow at Lan Xichen. "There's still plenty of time for you to consummate your wedding later. No need to be in such a hurry. Besides, I'm pretty sure you already had your fill earlier. So don't be so greedy now, Zewu Jun."
