"Lan Jingyi and Lan Sizhui. Our twin little boys."
Exactly one year had passed since that fateful night.
One year of ups and downs, of highs and lows. One year of joy and laughter, of pain and suffering. One year of crazy schemes, of mischievous propositions. One year of shameless cries, of blush stained cheeks. One year of bitter resent, of moonlit tears.
One year of forever silenced walls, of always averted eyes.
One year of flushed disciples, of hastily ceased whispers.
One whole year.
It had been one full year since Jiang Cheng had married him- allowing this alpha to weasel his way into the omega's life. And in that one full year- Lan Xichen had taken his beloved, whisking their family back to the safety of Cloud Recesses. Of course- Jiang Cheng had been none too pleased at that, insisting that he be allowed to help rebuild his sect. He had argued that even with Gusu's assistance, Yunmeng was still in desperate need of a makeover. And even though the Lan's had helped restore Lotus Pier back to its former glory in record time- Jiang Cheng still wanted to help his sect himself- taking a more hands-on approach.
Of course, Lan Xichen was not one to deny him- and had instead, spent most of his time fussing over his beloved A-Cheng.
The mosquitoes were quite vicious down in Yunmeng- and Xichen absolutely refused to let his mate get hurt.
After all, who knew if the bugs were carrying some sort of disease?
Jiang Cheng- with his diminished core, was in no shape to fight off any unwanted attacks on his body's system.
He had just given birth- and Lan Xichen was determined that he experience no such discomforts.
So the alpha had decided to accompany him- hovering over him as he watched on fearfully. Several times he opened his mouth to speak- only to be silenced by the sharp glares Jiang Cheng threw his way.
His beloved had taken to carrying the bigger weights- trying to bring heavy logs back and forth to the piers. And Xichen nearly had a heart attack when he saw the omega wobble- his frame teetering precariously alongst the edge of the docks.
He had immediately rushed forward, a scolding frown on his face.
"A-Cheng!" he had cried, grabbing the younger man and patting him down- inspecting his body for any damage. "A-Cheng! How could you do that to me!" he had exclaimed, scowling down at his mate. "You nearly gave me a stroke!"
Jiang Cheng- of course, had not been thrilled.
"I gave you a stroke?" he asked, one brow arched up incredulously. "From what, Huan-ge? Touching air?!"
"A-Cheng!" Lan Xichen scolded, "A-Cheng, you know what you did!"
"I know what I did?!" his mate echoed, that right eye of his twitching violently. "I don't know what I did. So what then- pray tell, did I fucking do?" he hissed, glaring daggers at the older.
Suffice it say- Lan Xichen had slept outside that night.
Though the next day, Jiang Cheng had caved in- finally allowing his mate to fuss all over him.
And Lan Xichen-
You best believe Lan Xichen grabbed onto that opportunity. And the first chance he got- he had convinced Jiang Cheng to come with him to Gusu, to stay just until the children were a bit older.
Now Jiang Cheng hadn't exactly been pleased about this- per se, but the omega had permitted it nonetheless.
After all, he had already decided to give up the sect leader position- choosing instead to stay by his children's side.
