FOUR YEARS AGO. SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA.

FOURTEEN YEARS OLD.

"what?" the boy yelled at his mother when she broke the news to him. he gripped his backpack and was going to go upstairs before his mother stopped him by grabbing his arm. he looked back with a glare but it immediately softened when he saw her gaze.

"please, just listen to me, felix." his mother muttered softly. felix didn't want to. he didn't want to leave his two sisters and family to go to fucking seoul for an exchange program. hell, when did his school even have an exchange program going on with seoul? where did his family even find the money for him to attend the exchange program.

but felix still chose to listen just because it was his mother speaking to him. so there he was, sitting on the sofa, waiting for his father to come back to explain everything to him and his sisters.

"where are you going?" olivia, his younger sister, asked him. felix looked over at her, smiled and ruffled her brown hair softly, "i'm not going anywhere. you're not getting rid of me."

olivia pouted, "i was hoping to get your room as well! please go somewhere. please, please, please!"

felix chuckled and shook his head, "you want me to go so badly, huh? okay, i'll go. but what if you can't see me anymore?"

"what do you mean? i still wanna see you!" olivia exclaimed, her pupils widening as little beads of tears started to form in the corner of her eyes.

felix cooed and pulled her into a hug, "aw. you'll still see me, liv. i promise you'll still see me, okay?"

olivia nodded and just as she nodded, his father came through the front door and was startled by how everyone was just sitting in the living area. he looked over at his wife — his soulmate — and frowned, "you told him?"

mrs lee nodded, smiling softly at her husband, "yeah, i did. do you wanna tell him, or should i?"

mr lee shook his head. he sat in front of felix and smiled at his two children, "where's rachel?"

"she's out with her friends." felix replied, "am i really going to go to busan?"

"busan?!" olivia gasped, "isn't that in south korea? that's so far away! no, felix isn't going there! no! can he stay? please?"

ara chuckled at olivia's reaction and went over to hug her tightly, "it's okay, sweetie. felix's not going there forever. he's just going to be there for four months. it's four months, sweetie. you'll see him again before you know it!"

"really?" olivia whispered. felix smiled at her and kissed her forehead, "yeah, of course! it'll be over like a blink of an eye."

olivia sniffed and nodded, "okay. okay. does rachel know about this?" felix looked up at the question as well, curious if his older sister knew about this all along or not.

ara looked at jinyoung, her husband, and nodded, "she actually helped us make the decision. she reasoned that you would learn better once you're there and it would also look good in your university cv. anyways, she knows about it and if she didn't believe you could do it, she wouldn't have agreed to it. you know that, felix. you know that your sister only wants the best for you and nothing else."
