Chapter 9: The Preparation

Oh look it's Andre. 😸

Paige:

It was Friday.

The Friday.

Homecoming was upon us.

In just 4 hours we would all be walking into the gym.

There would be dancing, fighting, stress eating, romance, heartbreak.

I knew for a fact I would experience at least one of those.

Maz and I had gone dress shopping a few days ago and had settled on long, dark grey dress.

Maz had gotten a semi-short, light blue dress.

I had curled my hair and put it in a simple updo.

Maz had gone to one of the salons in town but said she would be back by 7.

I sat in my room wondering what the night was going to be like.

Suddenly my mom yells up the stairs,"Paige you have a visitor!"

I hear steps coming up the stairs and see a familiar face peek into my room.

"Hello Andre." I say, smiling.

He grins and says,"Hello Paige, you look lovely tonight."

I try to fight the blush that comes after those words to no avail. Andre notices and laughs.

"I'm just saying the truth, you have nothing to be embarrassed about." He says, his expression softens,"You're an amazing girl."

I blush an even darker shade of red.

Then I hear the door open and Mom yells,"Maz and Lyndon are here!"

I rush downstairs to and practically tackle Maz in a hug.

She jumps up and down, "I'm so excited Paige!"

"I know right!" I bounce with her excitedly.

Andre appears behind me as Lyndon walks through the door.

Neither of them look at each other. Andre looks at the ceiling while Lyndon stares at his shoes.

I make a mental note to ask Lyndon about this later.

Then I hear a car horn outside.

"That's the chauffeur!" Maz says excitedly, as she rushes out the door.

Lyndon gestures for me to go out the door first.

I do and look back at them.

There's something going on between the two of them.

And I have a feeling I know exactly what it's about.
