"Oh my god, Mia! You look gorgeous I feel like crying", whined my aunt Carla.
As little of conceited I saw myself being, I couldn't help but agree. It was my big day, and I had the right to be satisfied with the results, right? I fluffed up my white gown skirt of it that was pressed up with wiring. I can't say I would sleep in the gown, no, but it certainly was a charm. Since the day of Ashton's proposal, all my family has been discussing is the wedding. And it was finally here. I could marry my Ashton, and I didn't have to worry about anything anymore.
I got my dress from a bridal shop a couple months back. The planning was all really a shock. When everyone saw in their mailboxes that Mia was married to Ashton Irwin, word came to the city, and lots of people attended, more than we planned. Of course, it was an open wedding so the whole town had its right to show up. I peered over the white concrete balcony, peering over the crowd of people ready to watch me walk down the isle. Me.
This was all such a surprise to me as well. I wanted to marry and be with Ashton more than anything, but who would've thought that Mia Marci, a girl who came from a basic descent of gerbil farmers and old little botanists who lived within the fields of the small city of South Carolina, had the privilege to marry 6 foot tall, handsome, sweet, caring, Ashton Fletcher Irwin? Not me, that's for sure.
"So many people are here", I said, a shaky laugh, almost a cry.
"My baby grew up", my other aunt Kristen smiled, a small tear managing to run down her right cheek.
"Oh, Karen, you're going to wash off all your makeup", laughed aunt Carla.
In the makeup room in the bridal area I suppose you could call it stood Sophie, basically my best friend. Her beautiful curls wrapped all the way down to her chest, and her golden silk strapless gown went perfectly with her skin tone. I couldn't help but feel at home whenever I hugged Sophie, like she was home. She found ways to make me smile whenever I forgot how to, and every time we would ever talk, she was always sure to ask how I was.
"Sophie, you look gorgeous", I said in admiration.
"Look at you, Mia! Are you serious right now! What happened to the girl who hardly wore a skirt?", asked Sophie, tipping as she rested her hand on her hip.
My wedding dress was a white long dress that fell roughly to my feet, the typical wedding tail traveling behind me that hopefully wouldn't get caught in the floor as I walked down the isle. Gorgeous shiny white sequins and pearls ran down the outline of it, creating the illusion I had a better body than I actually did. It was a strapless dress, too, with gorgeous lacing in the front. Not even my mom has seen the dress yet, shockingly enough however, my dad has. He was the one that picked it out with me. It was like our last official daddy daughter moment before I got married.
I had my hair done up by Sophie's best hair dresser, Tienna, a girl maybe 28 who had bodacious natural blonde curls that you could fluff up and down on. She braided it from the hair at my ears all the way to the back, creating a waterfall braid, curling the hair that fell from the braids and tucking a white flower that had a similar pattern to the dress into my ear. I felt like a princess, the ones you see in movies, or the ones you dream of being as a 7 year old. I felt like royalty.
My shoes weren't even funny, they were gorgeous white heels that shined in the light. They were from the bridal store as well, and it actually came with the dress. It only added onto the whole royalty vibe.
Sophie slowly tucked the veil into my waterfall braid, feathering out the netting and the tail of my wedding dress.
"Are you ready? They're going to start walking out anytime now!", Sophie announced.
