Hunted

Chapter 14 - Betrayal

The music was deafening, and a huge crowd of people were all pumping their fists in the air. Marinette and Adrien pushed their way through the crowd and tried to get a glimpse of the center of attention. Sure enough, there she was, Queen Lila was in a jet-black dress and she sported black lipstick and eyeshadow. Her eyes were a piercing green and she had long brown hair she let out a long laugh that was pure evil. She looked as sly as a snake to them. 

Marinette turned to face Adrien but didn't see him. She looked all around her, but he was lost in the crowd. They couldn't hear each other over the crowd and music, and she stopped in her tracks. Then she felt someone grab her around the waist and she jerked back. She was lifted in the air and brought back down. She scowled at the person who did this to her and moved to find Adrien. 

What Marinette didn't know was that Adrien had a plan of his own. He snuck up to the front of the crowd, so he was in close proximity with Queen Lila then he removed his glove. His hand seemed to be radiating with some kind of dark energy and it was becoming harder to control. He snuck forward towards Lila and then he heard a shriek over the crowd and all heads turned. A robed person, aka Marinette, had just fallen over after seeing a small rat run across the ground. Adrien giggled and then turned back to his mission.

 Marinette frowned and got back up. Then she felt someone grab onto her arm and before she knew it they removed her hood. She stared back at the person and saw that it was a young man. He had red hair and blue eyes and was looking into Marinette's face with a mesmerized look. She tugged away but his grip became tighter. He then pulled her towards him and started to dance. He spun her around and then brought her closer than she was comfortable with and leaned towards her face. 

Marinette nervously glanced around her and then grabbed onto his face releasing a large energy blast. He dropped her and held onto his head letting out a scream that caused the entire place to stop moving for a moment. Then a couple guards walked up to him and he pointed at Marinette. 

"She did this to me!" The guards scowled at Marinette who shrunk back. 

"It wasn't me; he's lying." She glanced around her but still saw no Adrien. Where could he have gone? She thought. 

"She shocked me with some sort of energy blast!" Shouted Nathaniel for that was the boy's name. What Marinette didn't know was that Nathaniel was Queen Lila's son. 

"Well you shouldn't have tried to kiss me!" She yelled back. Now everyone was watching the scene take place. 

"Oh ha ha ha ha ha ha, do you know who I am you you...peasant! Ahhh!" He began clenching his fists in anger and his head still hurt from the blast. 

One of the guards patted him on the back and the other one looked back at the terrified Marinette. She had used her powers when she shouldn't have. She felt vulnerable in this large crowd and had nowhere to run. He walked over to her spinning a key chain on his finger. He then held up a picture to her face of Queen Lila with a red headed man and Nathaniel her son. Her mouth dropped open and she backed away.

While this was happening, Adrien had snuck right up to Lila herself and was secretly going through the things in front of the platform. There was a strange device he came across which he slipped into his pocket then a guard came up behind him. 

"What do you think you are doing?" He said. Adrien turned around and swiftly took him down and brought out his claws. He then moved his hand towards the man's face. 

"Wait stop! I'll tell you anything!" The guard said. Adrien smirked, 

"Give me an audience with Queen Lila." He said. The guard nervously nodded and Adrien climbed off of him. He led Adrien to a side room and told him to wait there. Adrien sat in a chair and tapped on the arm rest waiting for Lila.
