22.2- In The Distance, A Small Shape

In the midst of thunder and rain, among
the woods that sounded echoes into the
distance,
a small string of rays peeked through, taking the
shape of hope, in resistance.

It's the love you've been yearning for,
waiting to finally break in.
and it's that far away because
of the walls you've built within.

it's taking one step forward,
but you push it two steps back,
and despite all your protests,
it still gets back on track.

it creeps toward your livelihood,
and crawls on your back like sins,
but just like all its rivals,
it stopped and hasn't moved since.

And just when loneliness settled in
and fit snug into your hands,
love came barging in to wreck havoc,
colonizing all your lands.
