Day 20: Moon

Sometimes I think of the moon
as a symbol of long-standing romance,
when lovers come home soon,
or cheat and give a second chance.

Where hearts meet and feelings form,
that teenagers sit on rooftops observing,
as they rant together up their dorms,
glitched with confessions more disturbing.

It's the time the moon appears in
when secrets themselves disclose,
and our species finally realizes
we're interconnected and close.

It's a symbol of vulnerability and doubt,
when one prays for answers and clarity,
when stars hear one's silent prayers,
and dreams come true like charity.

It's when important decisions are made,
no matter how reckless or rational.
It's the tumbling of ocean waves,
with each phase sensational.

with every new moon,
a brand new month begins
pairing a new created identity
just like birth twins.

when one specific crescent looms
a month starts, warm and generous,
of fasting in close-knit homes
following a celebration so glamorous.

with every half moon in,
comes a few three light nights,
of one's starving and striving
to turn wrongs into rights.

Eclipses happen on occasion
and once every blue moon,
a blood one calls invasion
casting shadows on ruins

A blood moon's mysteries feature,
those which show conflict;
with horrors of mythical creatures
vampires or werewolves depict.

and in gloomy stormy cloudy nights ,
the moon takes shelter from dust,
as people run shaded with umbrellas
leaving lonely iron pipes to rust.
