Kai's loud snore filled the room while her alarm goes off. The roosters crows set as her alarm's ringtone now started to annoy Kai. She groans loudly and stretches her arm to snooze the alarm. But then suddenly she realises something and her eyes pop open. It's here. She jumps out of her blankets and kicks her hands in the air "today's the day!" She Screams on top of her lungs. She mutters the phrase as she goes to switch off her alarm and turns to look at the clock. 9:30. "I'm late!" Unconcerned about the drool that was covering her face and the brown bed hair striking above her head she puts on a pair of shorts and t shirt. She put on what seemed slightly old whitish silver cap and brushed off the hair covering her face. She looks down on her table to pick up a vintage brown leather diary with the letter 'a' inscribed in silver.
Skipping a few steps Kai rushes downstairs. "Dad! Why didn't my alarm work!?" The fifteen year old paces to her father who was making pancakes. "Honey, it did, it's been ringing for the last one hour, but your sleep was too thick for it to get into your head" Dan said wholy enjoying the scene.
"Then why didn't you wake me up?!" Picking up her breakfast and bolting through the wooden room picking up things she thought she needed.
"I didn't want to be kicked in the face" Dan replied, touching his face "oh my beautiful face."
Kai rolled her eyes fetching a Polaroid camera from the corner. Kai's eyes darted towards a small framed picture of a lady in her late twenties with tangled brown locks flowing to her hips and bright green eyes not looking at the camera but at someone behind it ,the woman seemed joking about something to the cameraman when the shot was clicked.
Kai could feel the warmth of the moment even though she was not present there at the time, she smiled. "Good morning mom! Today dad enjoyed not waking me up on such an important day and on days where I don't want to wake up he will go get a bucket of water and splash it on me!" Kai joked half annoyed. "Hey mom, did you wake up on time on your special day?"
"She didn't" Dan came to sit beside Kai "your mom came an hour late and gave a wild card entry on her first day. After interrupting the entrance ceremony she kept on babbling about how excited she was." Kai's father chuckled "if it wasn't for me, your mother would have probably been disqualified just because of how much she spoke" he smiled eyes now getting slightly teary and then let out a sigh. Turning to his daughter the smile now converted into concern. Kai already knew what was coming.
"Are you sure honey" they have had this conversation millions of times and Kai always had the same answer.
"Never been so sure in my whole life daddy" she said looking into her fathers brown eyes, "and stop worrying i know you're a single parent but you are seriously the worry mummy instead the chill dad" she joked and rolled her eyes
"I know but-
"Listen to me, I-WILL-BE-OKAY. Okay?" Kai cut him off giving a reassuring glance
"I know honey" Dan signed loudly.
There was silence for a movement until Dan broke it "now go go go, before the school labels you as Allison Avalon the second!"
Reality strikes Kai and she rushes to the dining table stuffing the pancake into her mouth. "But I AM Allison Avalon the second!" She says with a full mouth and picks up her bag and rushes to do one last check.
She reaches the door and turns back to look at her father who was smiling but was a little teary eyed.
"Dad if you're thinking that your princess has grown then you should know I'm not a princess I'm a knight! And it's not as if I'm going away forever or anything I'm just going to a school where I'll have to stay for five months and then I'll come back for vacations"
"I know my little knight!"
Kai opened the door and ran to a wooden trapdoor in her garden. She had the leather diary in her hand and put it and her bag and the whitish silver cap tilted on her head. She looked at the watch on her hand. 10:00. She's late but she can still make it. She opened the trapdoor which was actually a portal, it was filled with violet and blue smoke all she had to do was jump and say the name of the place she wanted to go to and so she did.
"Magicshille academy!".
Everything turned black. This should be normal teleportation as Kai has done this many times but something felt wrong, the air was...
Drop! Kai falls onto the ground she touches the wet mud under her body surrounded by huge trees and bushes, wait this isn't magicshire academy Kai's been wanting to go since she was born. no, no, no! The trap door had malfunctioned right now she could be anywhere , the edge of the world or maybe even under the world. Her head got dizzy from the thoughts running in her mind, she closed her eyes.
A couple of seconds later Kai felt something land on her nose. She was too tired to even flinch, so she slowly opened her eyes. Red eyes focused on her nose blue shining fur and two small looking at her was all she could see. It was some kind creature. Kai slowly sat up afraid to scare the thing, she cupped her hand under it and it flew from nose and sat on her hand. It was beautiful, it had blue and yellow shiny fur and bead like eyes staring at the girl holding it. The face and wings of a bird but the tail and body of a squirrel, the thing looked at her and tilted its head.
"Hi little sweetie! Are you lost too"
The (half) bird shook its head as if it understood Kai's words. She had read that some intelligent creatures can understand their language but she had never met one since they were rare.
"No?" Kai chuckled "Well I guess not everyone is as clumsy as me, huh?"
The bird flew from her hand and started circling around her head and then grabbed Kai's t-shirt from her beak, signaling Kai to stand up and she did. And then the bird started to fly away from her when it noticed Kai was not coming it once again pulled her. And then it started to fly, this time Kai followed it. It must be trying to show me something! Thought Kai. Known for being a big klutz she tripped a couple of times but the flying creature waited for her. After following it for ten minutes she finally could see sunlight, just a movement later she saw a huge castle there were welcome signs everywhere. Huge letters spelling out "magicshille academy, for training of the diamond league"
This was it. She was here. SHE WAS HERE!!!. Doing some crazy dance moves in her place. And then she hears a female voice whispering "Greetings Kai I'm squee! I am your guide creature and boy should I say you really know how to fall." Kai was confused "Now go inside and get inside before your so late that you go expelled!". Hearing this Kai stopped dancing she turned around to see the creature that led her here vanish into thin air. Her name was squee. "Hey squee!!! Thank you" Kai screamed thinking that the creature must be near.

She was awfully late.
She took a step forward then the ground under her disappeared. Everything went black for a movement and then she felt as if she was falling, as if she hadn't have enough falls for a day.
Bam! She falls right on her rear bottom, she opens her eyes and finds herself in a white marble hall. All eyes on her.
AkWArd.
