"Hokage-Sama- are you sure about this? The bird anbu said. Kakashi waved him off as he sat down on a nearby bench. He laid his crutch next to him and looked up at the hovering guard with a smile.

"It'll be fine. I'll meet with Naruto  and be back in my hospital room before anyone realizes I'm gone," Kakashi assured him. The anbu sighed.

" But Lady Tsunade orders. She said-" the bird protested. Kakashi held up his hand a second time .

"She said you keep an eye on me while I rest. I'm resting right now, right?  Can you see me?" Kakashi said with a shrug. The bird anbu gave up and hung his head. In his mind, he pictured Lady Tsunade punching him so hard that he flew over Hokage Rock once she realized the Hokage has escaped from his hospital room.

Across the training field, Naruto laughed for the first time since the explosion at the exchange. It was rare to see his sensei bend the rules like this. Everyday since the explosion, Naruto visited Kakashi in the hospital. He was lucky he only suffered a broken leg and mild concussion. Naruto unfairly blamed himself for Kakashi injuries and the death of the other victims.  Everyday he replayed  in his mind what he could have done differently to save everyone. Kakashi did his best to reassure Naruto but nothing seemed to work until Shikamaru's idea.

Shikamaru insisted that Naruto needed something to distract him while the investigation continued. He explained to Kakashi how Naruto was interested in sealed information about his clan and parents. Kakashi granted Naruto's request to obtain the information from the library. The two days after  later, Naruto insisted that they needed to talk somewhere privately. They settled on one of the private anbu training field near the forest. Much to the bird anbu's dismay, he caught Naruto helping the Hokage sneak out of the hospital during  visiting hours. He had no choice but to trail the two.

"What's this about, Naruto?" Kakashi asked, watching the blonde ninja pull two scrolls from his backpack with a big grin on his face.

" Training and I need your help," Naruto explained. He tossed the two scrolls to Kakashi who caught them with one hand. Naruto stood in front of  the Hokage with his arms crossed. Kakashi laughed to himself. The pose reminded him of when he first met Team 7 and Naruto declared he would be Hokage some day.

Kakashi unwrapped the first scroll and examined the contents. Elaborate drawings of kunai knives adorned the edges of the scroll. Underneath each drawing, a formula was written in perfect script. In the center of the scroll, justu instructions. He raised an eyebrow at Naruto.

"Training, huh?" Kakashi asked. The Hokage thought Naruto might have questions about his father or clan but he wasn't expecting an invitation to oversee his training. In Kakashi's mind, Naruto has surpassed him.

"Training," Naruto confirmed. " I want to learn my dad's justu the Flying Thunder God Technique."

"Naruto, I'm not sure if I can help you with this," Kakashi explained. Kakashi opened the second scroll and squinted at the sloppy and rushed handwriting. He could just make out that this scroll contained different sealing justu.

This definitely belonged to Uzumaki Kushina, Kakashi said to himself.

"What?! C'mon, Kakashi-Sensei. You helped me learn how to use  rasengan," Naruto exclaimed, waving his arms frantically.  Naruto wasn't taking no for an answer.

"That was different. I can actually make a rasengan. I can't perform  this technique. Only the second and the fourth were capable of using the Flying Thunder God." Kakashi explained, looking over the scroll. "It's too risky if something goes wrong."

"Kakashi-sensei, please," Naruto pleaded, lowering himself to a bow before Kakashi. " I want to honor my father by learning this. He used the Flying Thunder God to protect the people he loved. To protect me...".
